Re: Out of Memory when saving Project or Exporting TTF

FontCreator 9.1 only supports TrueType outlines so Postscript curves will be converted on import. This will increase the number of nodes. It looks to me, from your screenshot, that the image is being imported as a bitmap, not a vector. FontCreator 11.0 supports both Truetype and Postscript curves. 6...

Re: Sukhumala — A Graceful Font for Body text

I have now moved fij -> fij to discretionary ligatures.

If only liga is enabled, fij will use the fi ligature; if dlig is also enabled it will not.

Version 2.22 is now available for download.

sub iacute j acutecomb -> iacute_j;
However, that is much harder to type than íj.

Serif apps do not support locl features, so I cannot use that method.

• Added fij and ij acute ligatures for Dutch
Version 2.20 changed these to Discretionary Ligatures as they cause some problems for Spanish.

My copy of FC8.1 Standard has nothing in the help file, and Google searches haven't come up with anything definitive as of yet.

I would expect them to be in the Font Library.

Advanced Naming Fields

Someone on the Serif CommunityPlus forums reported a problem with the Asap Condensed font from Font Squirrel. The issue seemed to be caused by the Advanced Naming Fields. After I cleared those and exported the fonts again from FontCreator, all is well. The fonts are released under the SIL license. I...

Re: Grave and acute on the different levels

Maybe I have should placed this topic in “Type Design.” I did not notice before. I thought it was better in Support, but Type Design would be ideal if you want to discuss the best way to design fonts. There are many ways to approach the problem But that is more difficult during creating a font and ...

Re: FontCreator 11 does not save the options of grid, guidelines and metrics

I keep mentioning font projects because that is how FontCreator now works. A TrueType font contains no grid or metrics settings, and no guidelines. In earlier versions, these application-wide settings were saved in the registry. The same settings were used for all fonts that were opened. Now, when y...

Re: FontCreator 11 does not save the options of grid, guidelines and metrics

I prefer to have the grid off always , others prefer to have it enabled. Changing the default for new projects will please some and not others. Setting up a project file with the grid, metrics, guidelines, comparison glyphs, notes, etc., that you want is a one time task. It is not burdensome unless...

Re: FontCreator 11 does not save the options of grid, guidelines and metrics

It's not a bug, it's a feature. FontCreator no longer works directly with TrueType fonts, but has it's own font project files with *.fcp extension. One exports fonts from this project file using the Export settings to determine the type of fonts to produce. The project files keep guidelines independ...
