I was suggesting that the glyph names be used in transformations
such as Override Range so that the script might be more easily
understood by humans. Codes such as $30 etc don't have much meaning -
to me at least.

Identifying the script version
All my fonts use the same script (well with some exceptions) so having just finished a round of updates I ask do they have the right version of the script ? This is quite laborious to determine. My own crude method is to put in deliberate mistakes that can be seen when the font is used by a word pro...

Re: Can't unbold
I have changed the Weight pull down menu item from 100 - Thin to 400 - Normal and this problem goes away.
Maybe I have created another problem elsewhere ...

Re: Use of [Calculate] button
Erwin, Yes, all my fonts have the same metrics. When I pressed [Calculate] the main change was that Line Gap was approximately doubled. The effect in a word processor was that a page that was much easier to read. Am I right in supposing that this change doesn't effect the glyphs at all but is to be ...

Use of [Calculate] button
I'm releasing fifteen fonts in OTF and WOFF versions and I must say the current version of Font Creator makes this activity so much less tedious than it used to be a couple of years ago. Thanks! My question is: Should I press on all the [Calculate] button on the General and the Metrics tabs of the F...

Re: Can't unbold
The behavior is similar on the iMac with osX 10.6.8. In FontBook the Thin is shown correctly but in TextEdit it is always Bold. Command-B has no effect. On the PC (VISTA), the font is shown correctly in FontCreator 9 and in MainType 3.0 In the Open Office it is always displayed Bold. but in Word the...

[Resolved] Can't unbold
I have a font that appears to be stuck in faux-bold, that is nothing happens when I press the [B} button
on a word processor. The font is of weight Thin but looks the same as Light yet in Font Creator
the stroke width is OK. Any ideas?

[CLOSED] Open Type Designer Problems
I'm attempting to design a single OT Script that I can use in multiple fonts. This means I will be exporting and importing scripts. I have encountered A lot of problems! To sort out what's going on and to deal with the possibility that I am myself creating the problems, I'll start with just one prob...

Identifying the font on the open type designer window
Lately I have been working on similar fonts for example different weights. I have two Font Creator applications running and also two OT Designer windows open and these are quite wide and overlap. I try to keep the windows of one font to the right and the other to the left. Occasionally I need to ope...

Re: Font Family problem on VISTA
MikeW The word processor I use on the PC is OpenOffice and the IMac I use TextEdit. For the Bold font in the Font Properties window on the Identification tab I have checked Bold :-) I' m stumped on this. Mike I opened the .odt file with Word and it complained the file was corrupt but nevertheless it...

Font Family problem on VISTA
I have prepared a font family of Regular, Bold, Italic and Bold Italic. It works on OSX 10.6.8 but not on VISTA (Home Premium SP2). On VISTA a word processor will display the Regular ok but for the Bold it displays a faux-Bold based on the medium. Same with the others. I put a different deliberate m...
