Re: Is import of vector formats implemented?

I didn't think I asked for wider vector import support. No, but that's the topic of the discussion started by Branais. I raised the suggestion of wider import support for a couple of concrete reasons, but the endpoint is making the act of moving one's work into FC less laborious and potentially fau...

Re: Is import of vector formats implemented?

Longer than what? Users of other vector programs will also have to export to postscript, PDF, or SVG formats. Longer than AI users, obviously, or I guess other programs that may save natively to PDF or SVG. CorelDRAW does still have a larger market share of vector drawing than AI or most other prog...

Re: Is import of vector formats implemented?

Well, OpenType fonts can use Postscript curves, sure. But these don't appear to be implemented in FontCreator? Only TT-flavour OTF?

But AI format isn't pure Postscript anyway, but a proprietary version.

Nonetheless. It all just means CDR users have a longer workflow to import vector graphics.

Re: Is import of vector formats implemented?

It would be pointless to spend time on direct import of CDR format. Truetype fonts and Postscript fonts don't support a fraction of the features that Corel Draw does — layers, bitmaps, stroke weight, etc. With respect, I don't see that that's an argument against the CDR format specifically. Couldn'...

Re: Is import of vector formats implemented?

It would be great if High-Logic considered enabling import of CorelDRAW format (.CDR) directly.

At the moment, CDR files have to be saved as SVG or AI, but like any conversion that can lead to loss of information. Please, High-Logic, expand the import capabilities.

Re: Kerning Test

Thanks for posting that, Dick — a very entertaining challenge. I scored 79, which included 3 x 100s, and one zero! ;-) (I don't always agree with how tightly people kern letters to capitals like T, so even though the variation was small, "Type" was the word that did me in.) (See, even here...

Re: Scottish Gaelic fonts?

I can't find any anywhere, i can find irish ones, but not Scottish Gaelic. Does anyone know any / know any site that has some, please? Or do people just get irish fonts when getting tattoos in Scottish Gaelic? Hi topman, I'm very late to this party, I recognise, but I wanted to ask: what is it that...

Re: Windows 7 and font fallback for missing glyphs

Mmm, yes I understand font managers only make fonts available. When I mentioned "font managerment" in Windows, I was referring to the way the OS uses fonts to write to the screen. So, to cut to the chase: if Windows writes characters into athe display of a font for glyphs that are natively ...

Re: Windows 7 and font fallback for missing glyphs

Erwin, thanks so much for your reply. This may seem a little off-topic, but let me ask for clarification this way, if I may: You've soothed my ruffled feathers a little about the issue of where the font fallback comes from. My understanding was that it is generated as part of the Uniscribe routines ...

Windows 7 and font fallback for missing glyphs

Hi all, I've been reading this thread at http://forum.high-logic.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3806. I realise it's a bit old, and is now closed. I'm having a great deal of frustration with this "feature" of Windows 7, because I'd much prefer to know that a font is missing a glyph that I ma...
