Re: How do we assign all Widths and Weights as font styles?

We did post it once to the forum and it is also described in more recent versions of the FontCreator manual. How to make fonts work like a family? Windows comes with several typefaces (font families) that are made up with more than 4 fonts. To name a few; Calibri contains 6 fonts, Segoe UI comes wi...

How do we assign all Widths and Weights as font styles?

Hi there. I have been having a heck of a time getting all width and weight variations to show in the Font Style menus of Adobe software, specifically Photoshop. All I see are the subfamilies Regular, Bold, Bold Italic, and Italic. Illustrator seems to be okay. Here are the items I am varying: Font P...

Re: Yes italic, no regular

Having similar issues with bold style. Took all afternoon to resolve. I was able to solve it by changing the font name, incrementing the version, changing the font name back, and then incrementing the version. A lot of weirdness with *'s and OTT's being appended to both the font name and font style ...

Okay, it looks like I'm out of luck until I upgrade.

Re: Alternates or New Font for cross bar (horizontal stroke) variations

I have access to the OpenType Designer, I can add the Stylistic Alternate and Stylistic Set features, but then the designer gives me mark to base and pair adjustment options. I'll see if I can find any tutorials on the forum. The comparison chart seems to say that the only difference between standar...

Re: Alternates or New Font for cross bar (horizontal stroke) variations

Can you link me the tutorial on how to make that happen?
My copy of FC8.1 Standard has nothing in the help file, and Google searches haven't come up with anything definitive as of yet.
Seen the Fontself implementation though!

Appreciate it

Alternates or New Font for cross bar (horizontal stroke) variations

Hi there I am looking for some advice on best practice for supplying alternates with a different horizontal stroke (cross bar) height. For example: a new all-caps gothic grotesque font, the horizontal stroke bounces up and down above and below the horizontal centerline. I put alternate glyphs with c...

Re: Moving fonts back in from Illustrator

They won’t be out of alignment with version 11. Just make sure you have set your import vector settings correctly. I think there's a miscommunication. If Illustrator doesn't store bearing, x-height, or cap height data, how could the Import Vector tool possibly load a vector into the same place insi...

Re: Moving fonts back in from Illustrator

First of all, make sure you are running FontCreator 11. Design your font as an OpenType font with CFF based outlines, as those use cubic curves which are also what is used in most vector drawing software. To copy and paste back and forth to and from most vector editing software without conversion t...

Moving fonts back in from Illustrator

Hi everyone I have been using Illustrator to achieve text effects that aren't available through the Glyph Transformer (for example, Roughen). I have been finding it very challenging to move fonts in and out of Illustrator without losing characters / bearings / character position, while matching heig...

Re: Seeking a Shadow Script

I don't think it can be done. There is no function to copy existing glyph contours using a transform script. Copy the glyph in the glyph edit window Move the glyph and increase the right side-bearing by running a transform script Paste the original contours Select all Get Exclusion of contours Shad...

Seeking a Shadow Script

You could also do this with Glyph Transform Wizard. In the glyph edit window, copy your glyph as before, then Tools, Glyph Transformer: Outlines, Move 200,100 and Metrics Width increase 200 (right side). Then paste the copy of the glyph back into the original place. This doesn't work for me on a mu...

Addendum to increase value / functionality:
Option to exclude .ttf from the font pack and css file. This is for people that sell webfonts and standard user licenses separately.

Re: Add Italic (Oblique) and Bold to Preview

If I remember rightly the Windows dialogue used for the Font Test window doesn't support the italic cursor. The work around in this thread will also solve this problem. Exactly. We have posted this in the Enhancement Requests forum as a result. Workaround is working fine. Would need to see more of ...
