Re: Petite Capitals Private Use.xml

Nevermind!!!
I discovered the Unmapped Latin Petite Capitals.xml 😎
I see some possible kinks but this should work.
(I would have done the German sharp S a little differently for one thing)

Petite Capitals Private Use.xml

I must be missing something here. The Petite Capitals Private Use.xml script fails to actually create the 155 glyphs I expect it to add to my font. The cells are there with what seems to be the correct code points but they remain empty. I noticed that CompositeData.xml now uses "friendly" names but ...

Not all word processors support all of the OpenType features. Where they are supported, they need to be activated or enabled.
For example, in LibreOffice, the supported features are enabled by specifying feature codes in the font selection box.

Re: How to change "ab" to "cd", while "a" won't change to "c" with any letters but "b" behind it in OpenType Designer?

Just for jollies, I created a composite glyph in the private use area @ $FB07 with a name of "abform". This glyph was a composite made of the characters "c" and "d". In the OpenType Designer, I added a Standard Ligature 1 feature (liga) and then I added a lookup table Ligature 1 and then I added the...

Re: Adding extra mark on a word

Your project seems odd to me on the surface. As Ewrin suggested, searching for "contextual substitutions" migh give you some ideas . . . https://forum.high-logic.com/search.php?keywords=contextual+substitutions&terms=all&author=&fid%5B%5D=3&sc=1&sf=all&sr=topics&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Sear...

Bhikkhu, that script font in your illustration above is gorgeous! Is it one of your creations?

Cool! I learned something today :D

Animated PNG files . . . Watch the shift states on the left for the different keyboards.

Re: Keyboard access to as many as possible characters

Just to illustrate mapping a calculator font to a US keyboard shown in kbd01. kbd01.png I created six keys (Sin, Cos, Tan, Sin-1, Cos-1, Tan-1) and mapped them such that the right Alt key gives you the three shown in kbd02 kbd02.png Using shift with the right Alt key gives you the inverse functions ...

Re: Keyboard access to as many as possible characters

As Erwin has suggested, Microsoft keyboard layout creator offers the ability to create a keyboard such as "English (United States) United States-International Keyboard" where a large collection of accented Latin characters have been mapped to standard keyboards and seems to have a large number of op...

Re: Keyboard access to as many as possible characters

Unless you are into it for the fun of it, why re-invent the wheel?
There are some free calculator key fonts on the web.
One example: https://education.ti.com/en/software/de ... 557992/83p
There are also fonts which emulate various calculator displays as well.

Re: Petite Capitals script

After looking at several examples of Small and Capital Sharp S in other fonts, I suppose that FontCreator's rendition could be either small or capital … whichever you think it is, the other one needs to be created in CompositeData.xml.

Re: Petite Capitals script

I am a little confused about the Latin Small Letter Sharp s (U+00DF) and the Latin Capital Letter Sharp S (U+1E9E). The Latin small letter sharp s generated by complete composites resembles the uppercase small sharp S and it has the height of a capital letter. 223-02revised.png Mapped at 223, the fi...

I misspoke, the SS and the Ŋ do have small caps code points so they can stay, I guess
