Re: Installing fonts from non-font-folder locations

Now how do we keep Windows (especially Mico$oft Office) from reinstalling the fonts we have moved out of the Fonts folder? If I move them out it is because I don't want them there, but M$ seems to think they ought to be there anyways! Could we include an option in MainType to prevent this?

When is the next version coming out?

Hello! I have been using MainType for over a year and still haven't seen a new version! When will it come out? I am sure we have saved up from the forum lots of improvements for the new version. I am quite eager to see some of them implemented.

Option to get code point from character

What if... we had a dialogue box or input box somewhere that we could paste in a character (unicode!) and Maintype would tell us the code points for that character. For example, the other day I copied an accented ae character from another application and I could paste it well enough into MainTypes "...

I have found consistently that if you have the font selected (open) in MainType that FC won't be able to save the font. If you select (open) any other font in MT, then you will be able to save the font in FC and then return to MT - it *is not* necessary to close FC. I am not sure if it is a Windows ...

Thanks again, Mr. Pesala! I know that the mouse lasso can be used for this, but I posted here in the "requests" forum, not for the function, but for the requesting of the mode of using the function. I don't EXPECT any of my requests to be added, but it is always good to hope!

Great! Then you can know if your request is a good one if you get multiple requests for it! Perhaps it would have been better if I had searched out the thread first and posted a reply to it. Sorry for the clutter.

Thanks for answering, Mr. Pesala. I posted in this forum to request for an input box to do this so that one doesn't have to search through the 256 glyphs for what you are looking for. I apprecieate the shortcut however!

Shift select for points.

Wouldn't it be nice if, while using Q and W to select points, you could hold shift to select more than one point? Right now you have to drag the mouse-box over several points to select them. But shift-select is common in most other programs.

God bless!

[CLOSED] Can't save font if it is selected in MainType.

Often we browse the fonts in MainType and jump to FontCreator with the shortcut provided us in MainType. This isn't a REAL bug, because both programs work perfectly. But it isn't a feature request either, I think. Wouldn't it be nice if while that font was yet selected in MainType, we could still SA...

Select font shortcut: option to edit in FC

Wouldn't it be nice if you could right-click on a font's shortcut in the MainType list and have an option to edit it in FontCreator?

Thanks!

Field to enter particular glyph into Test Font box

It would be nice to have a little field in which you could enter the index number of a glyph (or some unicode number) to have it inserted into the Test Font box. This way you don't have to hunt it down in order to have it inserted.

God bless!

Find erroneous glyph via Validator

Say you use the global validation option, and a list is produced for you of all the various glyphs with their corresponding errors. Now wouldn't it be so nice if you had an option to click somewhere in that error-reporting box and jump right to the glyph with the error in it? Or at least minimize th...

Multiple font Preview Pane

Hello! I think it would be nice if there was a sort of preview pane where you could add characters and then change fonts and still retain the font characters you had last entered (still in the former font). This would also enable you to compare glyphs from two fonts side by side - a handy feature. G...
