A symbol font will only show at most around 220 characters, so you are in need of a regular (Unicode) font.

FontCreator supports up to 65535 glyphs, as that limitation comes from the specification. However, since you can map more than one character to a glyph, a font can contain more than 65535 characters.

Yes, you are both correct. Right now MainType can show them, but can't print them.

I meant to say numerous glyphs are analyzed in order to calculate the best possible left and right side bearing for each individual glyph.

The list of characters that will be processed by the optical metrics feature is:

It is not one list, but several sets of glyphs that are processed.

You most likely also have a more recent version of Windows which comes with different display settings for fonts. To get your font out of FontCreator, you need to export it. This setting is available with a valid license.
