You might be looking for the wrong name, what name do you see when you select AutoNaming from the Tools menu?

Thanks for the link. I've never seen or heard of any API that is available for Windows, so they probably got together and developed some special mechanism for this. What we need is a mechanism made available through the O.S. itself in order to make it work for all applications.

So SAP requires fonts based on TrueType font specification version 1.01, released October, 1997?

Anyway, on the Format menu, click Settings, and then click the Ranges tab. Here change the Contents and Layout version.

Bitstream Font Navigator (I know - who needs it) however did do this in Corel. How did they do that?
I never heard of this, can you point me to some online documentation about this?

I 'load' a font from the cd. I assumed load doesn't copy the font anywhere it just tells the system to use it from it's current location on the cd. (Am I wrong?) That correct, when you load a font it isn't copied. However when you install a font from a removable storage medium it is copied to Windo...

Thanks for the feedback. I might be wrong, but I think it is pretty obvious what Delete is supposed to do. I'm very curious about what other users have to say about this. I will definitely try to improve this when more people confirm this is a confusing feature. You wouldn't happen to have a list of...

I'm not sure (because Windows font cache is very sensitive), but you could also try to unload the fonts through the Browse pane.

From the user manual : A loaded font is added to the system font table, but not to the font related part of the registry. Because all fonts in the system font table are available to all applications, loaded fonts (just like installed fonts) are available to all applications. However loaded fonts are...

1. This feature works the way it should be.

2. True, when there are no mappings, Font Craeator can't determine what postscript names suits the glyph. To solve this, make sure your glyphs have valid mappings.

Re: Fixing Problem and Broken Files

I'm glad to see Dick has replied to your post, as he has far more experience with collecting, organizing and fixing fonts. **Is there a way to correct the display of these files in MT? (BTW, one font, Bastarda Plain, displays larger in this circumstance rather than smaller.) MainType uses specific t...

When all you want to accomplish is a font name change, then you can include all unsupported tables, as those tables are never in conflict with font name changes. I don't know what happens when you correct the average character width, but it is unlikely it will cause any problems. Note: most font lic...

The original font contains a Horizontal device metrics (hdmx) table. Font Creator doesn't support this table. On opening a font, unsupported tables can be preserved or deleted. To change these table settings, on the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Font tab. The hdmx table, as well as L...

Maybe some end user license agreements from commercial font vendors might help:

No, this isn't available yet, but I'll add it to the to-do list. FYI, there are several typographic fields related to this:
  • Font Manufacturer
    Font Vendor
    Font Designer
