Version 2.53 fixes numerous bugs, adds Stylistic Alternates, unifies font metrics, and improves PANOSE classification.

Can it also paste the sidebearings with the glyph contour?
No. Paste Special is greyed out. You will have to copy metrics and glyph names, code-points separately.

Re: How to group contours?

I split your post to its own topic. It is easier if users are looking for solutions. When you import an image, one or more contours will be created. Each contour has at least three nodes. Contours cannot be grouped permanently as the TrueType format does not support grouping. In the Glyph Edit Wind...

Re: Alt Codes for Special Characters

I still use some Alt+Code shortcuts for occasionally used symbols such as: © µ ¶ » ¼ or Æ. Those of us who started using computers before the days of Unicode got familiar with some ASCII and ANSI codes, but MainType makes it a lot easier to insert a much wider range of characters without memorising ...

Re: Help: Ctrl+E Shortcut

I have no idea. Too long ago to remember, and not worth it to investigate. I can save you the trouble. Ctrl+E opens the Export Settings dialog in FontCreator 11.5. I did not realise that I still have it installed to help users of old versions. Two years is not old for software; it was last updated ...

Re: Help: Ctrl+E Shortcut

I suppose that there are still some who are using Font Creator 11.5.

The manual still gives the shortcut Ctrl+E as Paste Special.

The manuals for FontCreator 12 and 13 have been updated. Was the shortcut ever changed in FontCreator 11.5 or only in later versions?

Re: Using knife tool converts all contours to quadratic

So this behavior seems to be intended, and not a bug. However, it's quite annoying when curve type suddenly changes :? No change in FontCreator 13. It may be easy to fix as convert to cubic is already available on the context menu. The curve type is shown in the Status line so it is easy enough to ...

Re: Character or Glyph. What is the Difference?

Here is a slideshow of a preview of my font in FontCreator, showing the effect of enabling various OpenType features. The rocket is a coloured character, which is mapped to decimal code-point 128640 (1F680 hexadecimal) in the Unicode Character Set, Transport and Map Symbols. It has coloured glyph me...

Re: Character or Glyph. What is the Difference?

Total noobs are welcome here, even if they are really trying. A glyph may be mapped or unmapped to a Unicode code-point. If it is mapped the glyph is also a character, if it is unmapped, it is just a glyph (a shape). Many fonts, like Linotype Palatino contain a number of unmapped glyphs for u...
