In the end I changed every occurence of bold-italic in my document to bold, but this is not a solution that I would recommend.

Doesn't anyone know what might be causing this?

Problem with PDF Output

When I produce a PDF, I get this error message "Font Skt Goudy Old Style BT with style Bold, Italic can't be found - Text will be output as curves." The font is definitely installed. I have edited the fonts again, using autorenaming to ensure that all the names match correctly. I checked the Unicode...

If the diacritic is just zero width, Word should put it in the same position as the next character. To overlay the previous character you also need a negative left side-bearing. The advantage of creating composites is that you can define the precise position of the diacritic. Sometimes one may find ...

Assuming that you always and only want to use the alternate y after certain letters. the right way is to use Open Type features, which are not included in Font Creator. A work around that may satisfy your needs would be to assign the alternate y to ý or ÿ then select the International US keyboard an...

It sounds like our old friend, Auto-mistake. In Word and Corel Draw too, if you type an apostrophe (ANSI 039) it converts it to single quote, and " become “ or ” . If you haven't designed those characters in your font they will show up as nul characters, usually rectangles. Turn off Autocorrect to s...

• F1 is quite useful :) but Irwin is still working on the help file. • Then there's Alter Right, Alter Left, and Alter Enter. • Plus and Minus on the numeric keyboard. These are useful in overview too. • Then there is P in overview. You need to have the Preview toolbar open to see the effect of this...

There are no limitations to the trial version. Try saving the font with a new name before installing it. If it is still not recognised, try rebooting.

Most problems are caused by incorrect mapping. If you have just modified existing characters in a standard font, this should not be a problem.

Get to Know Unicode

Babel Map is very helpful. When mapping characters to Microsoft Unicode Platform, use the select option. Choose the character set first (top window), then the character below. Open the text file UnicodeData.txt in C:\Program Files\High-Logic\Font Creator Program\Unicode for a list of names and char...

I think it should be mapped to

U+201A : SINGLE LOW-9 QUOTATION MARK

That's decimal codepoint 8218 in General Punctuation. I can type the character in the sample window with Alter 0130, but Alter 8218 gives odd results: I get ¦ or ‚ alternately.

Upgrade to Wordpad :D

Open Office doesn't do it either. Type 8364 gives ¼ instead of €, but one can insert Unicode characters via the insert symbol dialogue.

The right way would be with the latest beta using the Glyph transform wizard. I did this one in half a dozen clicks. Tools, Glyph Transformer, Outline, Mirror, Horizontal and Vertical, Range All, OK. One will then also need to shift some baselines, but most look OK. This is how it looks in Preview a...

Though I said it solves only half the problem, in fact it doesn't even solve that much, as the font has to wrap from bottom to top too. :(

Have you thought of fixing a prism to the hand-held device?
