FontCreator 12 has a new feature to show metric guides for superscripts, subscripts, etc. If the glyphs have a suffix of .sups the superscript metric guides will be shown. Otherwise, just drag a horizontal guideline to any position. Double-click the guideline to adjust its position precisely, or dou...

Re: Ligatures for the Cyrillic font. Please Help!!!

7. Adding the Ligature Feature In the OpenType Designer, add a script for Cyrillic. Add a standard ligature feature for Cyrillic. Add a lookup table to the liga feature to use your newly created ligature glyphs. The screen shot shows Dejavu Sans, which already has 20 scripts and various features. I...

Re: Ligatures for the Cyrillic font. Please Help!!!

There are several steps to this. Create new empty glyphs for the ligatures. Since they are going to be used by OpenType features they do not need to be mapped. That is the recommendation unless your fonts are intended for use in applications that do not support OpenType ligatures. If you do wish to ...

Re: Questions about Font Alignment

That is not possible. These are the available options on the Overview Toolbar for sorting the glyphs in the font. This sorting method is temporary. It does not actually change the glyph index of each glyph in the font. Sorting Order.png There are also these options available on the Tools menu. This ...

Re: Problems with changing x-Height and CapHeight values

As I said earlier, one can change the x-Height and Cap Height in the Home Editions, as well as in the Standard Edition. The dialogues are identical. There are a few things that the Professional Versions can do, which the Standard version cannot, but basic features like editing Font Metrics is not on...

Re: Problems with changing x-Height and CapHeight values

I really want an accurate answer. Even though you did not, IIRC, give your version number in your original question, you did get an accurate answer. The fields can be edited manually in Font Properties, Metrics. It is not much different even in version 6.5, except that it is found in Format, Settin...

Re: Problems with changing x-Height and CapHeight values

Cap Height and x-Height are calculated in Font Properties, Metrics, using the x and H glyphs. If they are missing, the values won't be correct. They can also be set manually in the Metrics Tab of the Settings dialogue. Font Metrics.png To show the various metrics guidelines and set their colour and ...

Re: Composite Glyphs with Negative X Scales

As noted before, this is a known issue with scaling of composite glyph members. FontCreator 12 has an option to decompose scaled composites on export. Decompose on Export.png If you tell us which glyphs are causing problems, we can advise why it happens, and what you might do to work around the issu...

Re: Not a valid font

There is a setting in Options, Advanced to save a backup file when saving projects. Look in the folder for any file with a *.bck extension and rename it to newfont.fcp and try to open it.
