A particularly interesting feature of the Quest text font is that it has glyphs for many of the precomposed ligatures of the golden ligatures collection of Private Use Area code points for ligatures. http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ngo/golden.htm In addition the font also contains various other li...

I have just uploaded it to the web. http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~ngo/font7007.htm There is a link through to that page from the following page, in which there are four pdfs which use Quest text. http://www.users.globaln...

Using advanced Unicode features

Something which I find rather puzzling is the way that whether one can use advanced OpenType features on a Windows PC depends very much upon which version of Windows is running. For example, it appears that the glyph substitution capabilities of an OpenType font cannot be used on a Windows 95 or Win...

> Problem is sending these to some one else (as in email). Unless they have the same font on their machine the characters will get substituted. Seems that a picture/graphic is the only way... unfortunately. Well, for direct email based on plain text or an HTML page, it is indeed a problem. Yet if on...

Font Vendor

I notice that Format | Settings... | General has a section named Font Vendor and that Fomat | Naming... has two Font Vendor possibilities, one under Windows and one under Mackintosh. The help file has two entries for Font Vendor, one for each of the above it appears. In the Format | Settings... | Ge...

One possibility which you might perhaps think worth considering is to place your signature character in a font on its own. It might be best not to assign it to a lowercase letter in case a wordprocessor package tries to replace the lowercase letter with the corresponding uppercase letter. If a stand...

Why are left side bearings set at x=0 when saving?

I am on a learning curve with Font Creator Program, my previous fontmaking experience being with the Softy program. During last week I started to produce a new font within Font Creator Program. This is intended to be a thin line font with whatever artistic serifs occur to me as I proceed. It is larg...

Ah! Thank you for the tip. I have now found section 4.5.2.1 of the manual and things are now clearer. I have now produced version 1.01 of the Quest Chess font. The font now shows the desired copyright notice when viewed using WordPad. I feel that I have learned a lot through this exercise. Thank you...

The font name displayed by Adobe Acrobat in an altered font.

I am learning to use Font Creator Program. I produce pdf documents using Serif PagePlus 9 (the http://www.serif.co.uk webspace for details of the program) and I wish that the font name be displayed within Adobe Acrobat for the fonts which I produce. I decided to try to produce a font named Quest Che...
