Re: arabic typesetting modification failed

There is a feature designed for cursive fonts where the letters are supposed to join together in a continuous stream. I forget the exact name but basically they are anchors but not for the positioning of diacritic marks. If you use this feature (I must admit I have never had occasion to use this fea...

Re: Cyrillic characters

Cyrillic developed over a long period of time when christian monks set out across asia to bring christianity to the people there. So it is not just one language, the alphabet is used by about thirty five different languages. If you only want to support russian and a few of the major languages then y...

Re: Spinner Controls

Yes indeed they will but it would be faster/more convenient if one could use the mouse wheel to set the number.

Spinner Controls

There are various spinner controls in Font Creator (the dialog box controls with a number in a box with up/down arrows at the right hand side). It would be convenient if one could select a spinner control and then use the mouse wheel to increment/decrement those controls. Alternatively one could sel...

Re: Usefulness of the below type of fancy fonts and hybrid glyphs

There are three types of font commonly used. Serif, Sans Serif and Fancy. The serifed fonts are mostly used for long passages of text where comfort of reading is it's primary purpose. Sans serif fonts are mainly used for short passages of text where instant recognition is important. Although these a...

Re: Ancient Gothic

Gothic is not the same as runic.

The runes come from an earlier period and a different location.

Gothic is an ancient germanic language.

Re: Synchronise Widths of Tabular Figures Across Weights

I have synchronised the widths of the tabular figures across all the weights of the 'Munson' font and I intend to do this in the future. I don't know if this is best practice or not but it makes sense to me so that if someone makes a number bold in a table it doesn't alter the structure of the table...

Re: underscores

If you select 'No' there will be no glyph names which is OK.

If you select 'Regenerate for release' then the glyph names will all be correct and conform to the specification, which is also OK.

No glyph names generates a smaller file.

Re: underscores

My understanding is that some software doesn't work properly with glyph names that have spaces, it just takes the name of the glyph as the part up to the space which can cause problems and duplications. Of course Font Creator is well written and works with spaces but be aware that other software mig...

Re: Add Units per em conversion

Don't scale the composites, just the simple characters.

The accents may need adjustment but if you make the adjustment to the accent all the composites which use that accent will be adjusted. Don't adjust the position of each accent in each composite separately.
