Re: Drag and Drop

1. You can drag and drop selected fonts from Windows Explorer to a group, or hold down shift to move them. However, why not do it within MainType? Maximize the Font Panel to make it easier. 2. XCopy *.ttf ... to move a whole load of fonts at once. Type xcopy /? to get the command line options. 3. No...

I think it would be sufficient to group objects temporarily for the purposes of alignment, copying to other glyphs, etc.

One can already use composites for grouping contours permanently so I don't think a new file format is needed.

I no longer use any Type One fonts, but if I recall correctly Adobe Type Manager needs two files. This is from Wikipedia: Printer Font Binary (PFB) is a binary PostScript font format created by Adobe, usually carrying ".PFB" file name extension. It contains a font's glyph data. Printer Fon...

Posting the same question again, and in the wrong forum is not very helpful. Please delete that post and try to stick to one specific question in each thread. Questions about using VOLT should be asked on the VOLT forum. There's another route, using OpenType Compiler, which I found relatively easy t...

My latest attempt at adding OpenType features to my Talapanna and Talapanna fonts uses the Initial Capitals feature to access the Gothic Drop Capitals in the fonts. Ligatures are divided into two groups — standard and discretionary. This is the source file for adding the features using OTCOMP.EXE: U...

I added OpenType features to both Talapanna, and a few more ligatures to complete the set. I remapped the Gothic capitals to a different position in the PUA for greater consistency. The Gothic Drop Capitals can be accessed in programs that support OpenType features by using the "Initial Capital...

The red lines are calculated values and depend on the font's design. See this Tutorial thread on how to adjust the x-height and Caps-height. The position of Typodescender is calculated from lowercase "p," but adjusting the "p" doesn't move the Typodescender line. Format, Settings...

I have returned a modified version of your font. Some glyphs like f, g, p, y need a negative left side-bearing in italic fonts. Continue to adjust the bearings until you're satisfied. Use the Comparison Toolbar (F11) with first capital N on each side of the glyph, then lowercase o. Adjust the bearin...

If the font is not spindly, and looks OK at large sizes then the problem you have is lack of hinting information. This doesn't affect the printout, but it doesn't look so good on screen. Adding grayscale values should help. If the font is just too spindly, try the Transform Wizard (if you're using t...

Your online application may not support kerning, but changing the right side-bearings should change the spacing OK. Have you reinstalled the modified font? If you can post a link to it I can test it for you.

To be honest, making a pair of different fonts is probably not the way to go, though making an Outline version of a font is not difficult. See Working with GlyphTransformations . Tools, Glyph transformations, and open one of the three available Outline scripts. Run that on the whole font or on selec...

There are many applications out there that can do this, but it would be great to be able to solve this problem within MainType. Although I know of some applications that will compare text files (e.g. ExamDiff) or do a binary comparison, I am not aware of any widely available programs that will comp...
