[FIXED] Problem with AutoMetrics
Dell Inspiron Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.8GHz Vista Home Premium (woe is me) The first time I ran Autometriccs, I was fascinated as to what glyph it would work on next... so that when the next glyph ( it was into punctuation maybe ']' ) was likely to be under the AutoMetrics dialog, I atte...

Glyph Names I can understand
I have created about a dozen Open Type fonts using microsoft VOLT. The scripts for Open Type features all contain glyph names of my own choosing such as alefmapiq for the Unicode HEBREW LETTER ALEF WITH MAPIQ. The name of the glyph in Font Creator was uniFB30 but I did not mind as I did not use it. ...

Hebrew Font Shuneet V2.1
I have just released a new version of my font see http://hebrew-font-shuneet.com HEBREW FONT SHUNEET V2.1 Changes: The font is now distributed with the SIL Open Font License. There are maybe more than a thousand other changes that possibly only an obsessive person like myself will notice. The font i...

Breaking the composite connection
I have created some single glyph composites. Say A is a simple glyph and B and C are derived from it. I did this because I want all three to have the same shape. Now I find that this is more trouble than its worth. I want glyphs A, B and C to be independent of each other. I'm sure this is easy to do...

Re: Right hand side bearing changes
Thanks Bhikkhu, Sounds good. I have done an experiment with HEBREW POINT DAGESH OR MAPIQ which is used in 27 composites. I first set "Use this glyph's metrics" for the base glyph in all these characters. Next I moved the glyph in the dagesh character - an arbitrary amount of about 400 unit...

Re: Right hand side bearing changes
I'm back on this topic again. Causing me trouble again! I have to move a Hebrew diacritic called a Dagesh which is used in many composites. Doing this can change the side bearings in the composites. The left hand may be changed as well as the right. Is there any way of turning off this behavior. I'm...

Re: Position to guideline
Difficult for me to evaluate the usefulness of these complex suggestions. Instead here are some related features that I have often felt a need for in my work. Save and restore guidelines in a named file. I need a different set of guidelines for each font and get tired of recreating them. Multiple se...

Re: Spacing for Upper/Lower case combinations
Erwin, I happen to be dealing with the Upper/Lower case combinations in my "Hebrew fonts" so I was carried away with enthusiasm. Of course the problem only applies to the Latin characters in my fonts - the Hebrew doesn't have upper and lower case! Thanks anyhow - I look forward to the new ...

Re: Spacing for Upper/Lower case combinations
Will these new features work for non-Latin characters such as Hebrew, Greek and Cyrillic?

Re: Weight of Regular and Bold
vanisaac That seems good advice. For my two fonts Shuneet Square and Shuneet Oblique, I would strive to find a 'natural' weight best suited to their design. Each would have a 'bold' weight that would be two Panose steps heavier. For instance, if the Oblique Regular happened to be of Panose weight Bo...

Weight of Regular and Bold
On my web site, there are three fonts Shuneet, Shuneet Oblique and Shuneet Square. Now I have developed seven weights for Shuneet which are light, thin, book, medium, demi, bold and heavy. I want to match the weights of the other two (Shuneet Oblique and Shuneet Square) to this progression of weight...

Re: Problem adding a glyph
AMAZING DISCOVERY
I renamed the apparently corrupted font from "ShuneetDEV Oblique" to "aaaShuneet Oblique" so it would appear at the top of tediously long
font menus. The corruption has disappeared!
How can this be?
