"Syncrhonize the selected font folder..." syncs all folders in tree [Closed]
In MainType 8.0.0.1135, 64-bit: When a sub-folder of a "keep in sync" folder is selected, and the "Synchronize the selected font folder with your file system" button is clicked, all folders in the tree that the folder belongs to are checked for sync, not just the selected folder ...

Re: Add a preview renderer like the one in MainType and the "Test OTF" window
MainType uses Windows to rasterize the font, so to use it we have to export and install the font which is exactly what Test TTF/OTF does. Then, is there a way you can disable the "smart" bits of the FontCreator preview, and allow the user to toggle it (with the default being "smart&q...

Re: Add a preview renderer like the one in MainType and the "Test OTF" window
Please try the Test Web Font . This is limited by the installed default browser, most of which do not support all OpenType features. To be more helpful, "Test WOFF" should have a way to open in an arbitrary browser. Also, it's yet another window that has to be opened, which is silly when ...

Add a preview renderer like the one in MainType and the "Test OTF" window
The current Preview (F8) panel is very smart. Like the glyph display, it figures out things like contours with incorrect direction and fixes it in the preview. Unfortunately, this is not how the vast majority of OpenType renderers work, so it looks like the font has fewer problems than it really wil...

Re: Filter fonts that have all characters in preview?
People with 50000 fonts would have to wait for hours. With MainType 8, 64-bit, it only takes about a minute for my PC to build a list of 75,000 fonts, and scrolling through it has font previews almost as fast as it can scroll. The real delay is rendering the scroll bar and the characters on-screen....

Re: Synchronize MainType between PCs
I had hoped when i saw the upgrade notes that version 8 would include this ability; I noticed there's a tag export function. Unless I missed it, though, groups are not exportable/sync-able. Just back up the database (Tools|Create and restore backups...), copy the backup directory to someplace the o...

Allow changing font and font size for "plain text" in font lists
Columns like "Font name", "Tags", "Type", etc. are all just plain text (unlike the "Preview" column). The chosen default font and size to display this text isn't bad, but sometimes I'd like it smaller. Ideally, setting columns individually (so that the "T...

Expose more font metadata
By "expose", I mean "show in some way". How to do this best is up to you. In particular, there is currently no way to see the "Version String" or "Unique Font Identifier", and if the fix for displaying the correct font name goes into effect, the "PostScri...

Export/Import tags/ratings...is there any real-world use case?
Although the manual says that exporting and importing tags can be used to share this data among computers, the reality is that a single user with multiple computers is better off just doing a backup of the database and restoring to the other computers. This has many advantages, including copying muc...

Re: What does "Outline Issues" mean?
Thank you for letting us know! These are inadvertently reported issues. This bug will be fixed with the next upcoming release. So, will "real" outline issues be dealt with as well? Because there are some fonts where saving and loading again does not change the reported "issues",...

Re: [CLOSED] "Find Glyph" fails when only a single character is entered
Again, regardless of this being a design decision, it's not intuitive when there is are "exact match" and "case sensitive" check boxes. Also, this means there is no way to disable the rudimentary wildcard support, which can be a problem because an asterisk is a perfectly valid ch...

Re: What does "Outline Issues" mean?
And, here's another weird example. Open the attached TTF file, and you'll see 18 characters with "Outline Issues". Save the font as a FontCreator project and close the project. Now, open the project file you just saved. The "Outline Issues" are gone. The same thing happens if you...

[CLOSED] "Find Glyph" fails when only a single character is entered
In FontCreator 11.5.0.2427, 64-bit: Entering something like "O" in the "Find Glyph" finds only an exact match, even if "Exact match" is not checked. I was trying to find all the various accented "O" characters in a font (because some were composite and some we...

Re: Complete Composites uses uppercase I instead of dotless i
The XML file is from 2016. Are you using FontCreator 9.0? No, I have the latest version. Apparently, when you upgrade versions and then use the "Copy Data Files to User Data Folder" feature in the options dialog, it doesn't overwrite any files that might already be there. I had used that ...

Complete Composites uses uppercase I instead of dotless i
Using "Complete Composites" on the attached project, the uppercase "I" is used on all the composites that should use the lowercase "i". I have not modified the "CompositeData.xml" file from the default. It is attached as well. I've trimmed down a font as much ...
