Unfortunately we don't know how an O.S. calculates line spacing. And even then it is eventually up to the software to decide what value to use. This topic (I'm not sure if it is still up to date) might give you some more insight, and might lead to a solution:

Re: Default Line-spacing
That is indeed a bug. We've just fixed it in FontCreator version 6.2.0.244, so use the update feature to get this latest release.

Re: Font created with version 5.0 will not display in Win7.
The font is not correct according to Microsoft specs. It misses the first four glyphs. See this part of our manual: I recommend you create a new font with FontCreator, and copy and paste the glyph outlines from the old font to the new one. That should certainly solve this (and potential other) issue...

Re: New Variables for Font Catalogues
These are already available:
{FONT_NUM_GLYPHS}
{FONT_NUM_CHARS}
{FONT_FOUNDRY}
The others are not on the to-do list, but we will rethink this with the next major version.

Re: Default Line-spacing
It will only be enabled if you set the Content and Layout version (available in the Header page) to Version 4. I don't think this has anything to do with your mentioned problem, but unfortunately I don't not what is causing the issue.

Currently it is only enabled when the glyph is empty, but I'll see what I can do.

You could also use the "Go to Unicode Block" to select the block you need.

Re: Fonts load, but dont show in Window > 0/XXX
MainType should find all fonts, but only shows fonts that are not filtered out by the Filter setting. If this doesn't help, please upload a screenshot that better clarifies the problem.

Re: Some Character Sets are Rotated
Thanks for the response. At least I haven't broken FontCreator by editing Blocks.txt :oops: I like to comment out the blocks that I never use to make it easier to navigate the Insert Character dialogue. I never thought about that, but it is no surprise to me as you are an expert in getting the most...

Re: Some Character Sets are Rotated
Your results after calculating in FC5.6 are the same as my Before screen shot, so either FC 6.1 has a bug, or I have broken it somehow. The specs are not that clear about when to set a code page character range, but since FontCreator 6.0 we improved the calculation of the codepage character ranges....

Does it work if you copy a character from within MainType (inside the character pane) and then paste it into Corel Draw?

Re: Adding OpenType features
Thanks for explaining all the reasoning behind these OpenType features. This will help us with the decision when and how we are going to add OTL editing support in FontCreator.
UPDATE: OpenType layout features are supported since FontCreator version 7 without using third party tools.

Re: When was a font installed onto the hard disc please?
Such tracking is not available in Windows. Also MainType does not have such feature, so it is hard to tell which software installed a particular font.
