After trying a couple of word-processors, (Wordpad and Open Office) I concluded that the only solution is to use DTP software. Serif Page Plus SE is free and very powerful. I had no problems using Page Plus 9 or 10. I could set the line-spacing as tight as I wished without any clipping. Page Plus SE...

I have a script font called Chuzzlewit script with long ascenders and descenders. 4096 funits/em 3812 Ascender -1397 Descender 116 Line Gap Total 5325 This is much more than 4096, but it doesn't matter. It just means that if you use 10 point text at single line spacing the leading will be 13 points ...

The line gap (Format, Metrics, Calculate) in the font cannot be any less than zero. The only way is to use fixed line spacing in your word-processor because what you want to do, in effect, is use a 15 point font at 12 point line-spacing. If you manually set the ascender/descender to 1825 and -443 in...

I found Fairy dust with Google at Abstract Fonts . It installed perfectly and doesn't seem to be corrupted. Perhaps you were redirected here because the font says that the Designer is Erwin Denissen (the author of Font Creator) and the Designer link is http://www.high-logic.com/ The file that I down...
A bit of work needed on the spacing of these characters: F L h and 1. The period could do with being further left. The hyphen is a bit too high — vertical centre of x-height or slightly higher is better. The em-dash is a bit too heavy and the en-dash is a bit too short. The single dagger † and £ sig...

Select 15 characters in the font that you don't need to use, e.g. áéíóú etc., and copy them. Select the fifteen symbols and paste special (Control E). Select only the mappings checkbox, and paste the mappings, overruling existing mappings. If that doesn't work, send me the Plantin font with the 15 e...

So 10 gives you a slight reduction, but 11 gives you a BIG one. That's a problem. Making a font is a lot more complicated than I thought. Then your stroke weight must be less than 20, say 16, so a thnning of 10 gives you -4, while 11 gives you -6. You should reduce the thinning to prevent contours ...

Measure the Strokes After you've finished all the resizing, zoom right in to a horizontal stroke, and measure it with the measuring tool. MeasureStrokes.png Do the same for a vertical stroke For many fonts the horizontal stroke weight is thinner than the vertical stroke weight, so the transformatio...

Font Editors can only work in black and white, so you need to use another tool such a Photoshop or Corel Draw to add the fill. The shadow will also be easier to add there. I would suggest just trying the outline in Font Creator, remembering that the black contours will be filled in your graphics pro...

A Few Tips • No need to calculate decimals values. In Font Creator, Tools, Options, General, set Value to Decimal. • Why type three characters when one will do? e.g. Â instead of <A> If you're using your font in Word, Open Office, or Opera you can customize the keyboard to input any Unicode characte...

Try the Glyph Transformer:  Outlines, Scale horizontal 200% Width set width to what you want (OK for fixed width fonts) Scale glyph currently scales the contours only. It doesn't scale the white space either side of the glyph. If you want the width to be exactly double, you need to se...

Yes, if you have the Professional version. Glyph Transformer, Effects, Thin. There is no undo, so save your font at each stage. You can apply the effect to the whole font or to selected glyphs. Depending on how much you want to modify the glyphs, you may need to manually adjust some nodes if they cr...
