Scanning an Entire Alphabet
Scan at the Correct Resolution The recommended size for importing images into Font Creator is between 100x100 and 500x500 pixels. If your original is only 12 point text, which is 1/6th of an inch, a 2,400 dpi scan will be about right. It is recommended to use a larger original if possible, and scan...

100% doesn't mean very much. What you need to set is the number of dots per inch (dpi). If the original typewritten font is 12 points or 1/6th of an inch to get the recommended 300-500 pixel high image you will need to scan it at up to 3,000 dpi. Try 2,400 dpi. See this Tutorial on importing an alph...

Truetpe fonts are scalable, that is why there is no setting for height. The height of letters will depend on the point size that you choose in applications like Word. 5 mm = 14.17 points, but the height of the actual letters are typically less than the point size, because accents like ¨ in Ä have to...

If you open the font in Font Creator, and go to Format, Settings, Ranges, Code Pages, Edit, you can see which code pages are covered by the font. I think Windows 1250 CE is the same as Latin Extended-A Central European (which is shown in Font Creator). The C caron is decimal 0268 and 0269 Čč which c...

Any code page contains a fixed number of selected glyphs from many different Unicode Blocks. The Samples toolbar contains user definable text samples such as the ANSI character set, which also contains a fixed number of selected glyphs from many different Unicode Blocks. You could easily add a new t...

You should be able to do that with the Samples Toolbar. I cannot test it on Windows ME which has some limitations, but you should be able to create a text sample consisting of all the glyphs in any code page if you want to check the code page coverage. Any glyphs not supported will show up as the no...

Yes. The order does matter, or you will need twice as many kerning pairs to allow for the case when the cantellation mark is typed before the vowel. Think about the kerning of English capitals LAT and LTA L and A don't require kerning, but A and T do. So do T and A. If the vowel is kerned negatively...
