Re: Changing Glyph Names
I just added to glyphnames.dat as the last line: F000;ver 12-14-2013 Next I opened a font file in FC7 and opened Glyph Properties for a randomly chosen glyph. Under codepoint I entered $F000 followed by Enter, then tried [Apply]. The glyph name did not change to "ver 12-14-2013". What am I...

[NO BUG] Open Type Tables after exporting TT font
I currently use Microsoft VOLT for adding OpenType features to Hebrew fonts. In this procedure I use Font Creator to develop TrueType fonts as far as possible without any OpenType features. a) I took an old (pre-V7) font file and opened with VOLT and received the message: "This will replace all...

What Happened to Naming...
I open a True Type font with FC7 and want to look at the Font Name but I can't find the "Naming" dialog?
Am I going blind?

Re: Changing Glyph Names
Thanks Erwin, It's a lot clearer now. I put my glyph names into glyphnames.dat and they appear in the Glyph Overwiew window... with one exception: Hebrew letter alternative ayin, codepoint $FB20 still has the old name uni05E2.alt. In glyphnames.dat, I have: FB20:altayin I see that this is the codepo...

Thanks Bhikkhu,
What do you mean by %AppData%\FontCreator? How does one set up %AppData% or is it done automatically?

Changing Glyph Names
I want to make sure that all my fonts share the same glyph names. Seems simple... a) Is it sufficient to edit a copy of glyphnames.dat in my working directory? b) When will FC7 read the edited file? c) Does FC7 ever write to glyphnames.dat? Can I ignore glyphlist.dat or must I also edit it also? Mike

Re: Glyph Names I can understand
It would be good to be able to import and export the glyph names together with their Unicode values. I have no experience (yet) of dealing with glyphs that do not have Unicode values. I had a problem with a VOLT file that was indexed by Glyph number. Adding a new glyph in the middle of the file invo...

Re: Mark Positioning for OpenType Hebrew
After that background information in my previous post about OpenType and Hebrew in general, here are some personal observations. Microsoft VOLT is an old piece of software and to my view it is quite non-intuitive. It would be great if Font Creator could come up with something better! However 'Mark P...

Mark Positioning for OpenType Hebrew
In the development of OpenType for Hebrew, the goals had a different emphasis from those in Latin. Consider that Hebrew has one ligature and only a few alternative forms. Biblical and religeous Hebrew texts need intensive use use of OpenType. One goal was to allow for all Hebrew texts from antiquity...

Re: How is Optical Metrics stored?
Does anybody know? The reason for my question is my way of working. a) I will prepare a TrueType font for Latin and Hebrew using Font Creator v7. b) Next I will use Microsoft VOLT to position the marks in Hebrew. Note that when VOLT starts up it deletes any OpenType data! I want to be sure that at t...

How is Optical Metrics stored?
In the Automatic Metrics Wizard, is the data purely TrueType? (i.e. no OpenType tables) If after applying Optical Metrics, I open the Kerning window, will the results of the Optical Metrics be visible in the Kerning window. When I use Optical Metrics after using Kerning will the work in the Kerning ...

No decompilation of Kerning and Mark Positioning
Opened a font containing OT tables compiled by Microsoft VOLT and saw the GlyphCompositionDecomposition ccmp feature is decompiled and looks ok. The font also contained Kerning and Mark Positioning features but these were not seen in the decompiled script. Are these features supported? Will they be?...

No I don't think so I suspect the processing got that far by chance as on another tryBhikkhu Pesala wrote:anything unusual about the [] glyphs in the font?
it got as far as the euro glyph.
