Re: Help with ligatures, etc.

You can enter the magical world of OpenType layout features through the OpenType Designer. On the main menu select Font, and then click OpenType Designer. Oh. Um, okay, but when I go in there, it says... Scripts (0) Features (0) Lookups (0) I don't see any list of items like you showed me in your s...

Re: Help with ligatures, etc.

Add a new substitution to a lookup <snip> I have no idea where you're seeing these screenshots -- is this supposed to be in that Glyph Transformer thing? Because it's not in mine (I just downloaded v. 10 last night). I'll reply to your previous reply shortly -- I just woke up from a nap and badly n...

Re: Help with ligatures, etc.

Thank you, Bhikkhu, for such a fast reply! :) The Insert Character dialog lets you use a display font. This should be one like MS Unicode that contains as many mapped characters as possible so that you can choose them visually without knowing the code-points. The glyph outlines are not inserted. New...

Help with ligatures, etc.

Hey, folks! I feel like such a moron! On the one hand, I know WAY more about type design than the average non-typophile, and yet compared to most type designers out there I feel like I know next to nothing at all. :( About 15 years ago, I started designing a blackletter font in Fontographer -- which...

Re: Kerning Issues

Wow, thank you, Bhikkhu! Looks like I have my work cut out for me. I was new to this using Fontographer a decade ago, and I'm still new to this a decade later (I basically just put aside all font stuff during those intervening years!). In any case it would seem that I pretty well need to start almos...

Re: Kerning Issues

Thanks for the reply, Van! Um, with the issue you pointed out (along with the example you showed), which font were you using? The first/old font I created I pretty well manually kerned completely, but the second/new one was mainly just auto-kerned. I still don't understand why the old font (created ...

Re: Kerning Issues

Hmm... it would seem that I can only upload one attachment here, so I zipped up both the old and new versions of my font into one zip file and attached that. "Falsum" is the original font that I created back in 2001, using Fontographer, and which I'd kerned and everything to my reasonable ...

Re: Kerning Issues

I'm having the same sort of problem as the initial poster here, except that nothing that I've tried, nor the help files, or any of the suggestions that people have made here in this thread, seems to be helping me at all. Basically, I have a font that just refuses to kern at all! I'm using FontCreato...
