Re: Deleting font issues
Thank you, Erwin. The response only partially answers the issues in that nothing had the fonts open, with the exception of MT. I hadn't used the installed fonts for a couple months. Many reboots in between the night I tried to delete them and when they had last been used. The few that had been only ...

Re: How to define a substitute font if mine not installed
While using a font fall-back is useful on a web page, there is no specification for a font format that permits such fall-back per se. There is a system called Panose that was hoped to do just this with font files. Unfortunately, it is rather complicated to put in practice and other than some big nam...

Re: Access to the 'Cap Height' & 'x-Height' options
I have sent a PM but I must say this is very poor customer service. If you have a fix for all paying customers then why is there no update available when I "Check For Updates" in FC8? Why do I have to come onto a forum and hunt around and ask questions to get a bug fix for my software? No...

Re: Grid Snap and Knife Tool
One can get a pretty thin line that way, just not "zero" width.

Re: Grid Snap and Knife Tool
I think the solution isn't to make the knife tool snap...unless it will snap right one a grid line if one is close enough when when one clicks and holds, and then remains on the grid or when one clicks close enough hits the grid it is closest to. It's a freehand type of tool and personally, I would ...

Deleting font issues
Often times I will receive an update to a font, whether it is a collaboration or from a commercial vendor. All but system fonts reside in a folder within my documents folder. If the font is currently installed, most times I can uninstall, then delete, and I can then refresh the folder these fonts re...

Re: Disappearing characters
If anyone really wants to view the make-up of a font, use the light version of DTL's OTMaster. Unless you have some spare cash, then purchase the full version. The full version can make changes to the font, the free light version cannot. Top download link on their Downloadpage. http://www.fontmaster...

Re: Disappearing characters
Paul, yes. Sorry. You can turn them off for the paragraph style, as well as globally (if I recall properly without starting it). Globally it only affects new publications. The paragraph style trumps the global.

Alteratively, turn off ligatures for the style you have the font being used in.

Re: How to change ONE font character
Editing either font is likely a violation of the licenses. But you can simply do the cut and paste method, and probably a find and replace and only changing the font on a finished document. Been a while since I used Word, and I cannot remember if there is a font only find and replace option in the d...

Dick, that may well be the same for Fontgrapher, which is what the author used...but it's been so many years since I used it I cannot remember.

Re: Embedding Licensing Rights puzzle
Many wholly free fonts, especially older ones, were always with the restricted embed. Why? Who knows. Ignorance, perhaps. On that guy's site, on the Action page, it is pretty obvious that at least one of the users changed permissions...or the application they used to create the computer application ...
