Bhikkhu Pesala you brought it up ... The UnicodeData.txt document includes many extra columns of stuff. For example: 00AB;LEFT-POINTING DOUBLE ANGLE QUOTATION MARK;Pi;0;ON;;;;;Y;LEFT POINTING GUILLEMET;*;;; I recognize some of the fields: unicode hex number, unicode name, and alternative unicode nam...

I'm really stretching to say anything about this -- but I hate to see a question without a response... 1. Fonts may be formed by combining diacritic marks with letters. These include: grave, acute, caron, cedilla, macron, etc. You may also use multiple diacritic marks to create a single character, s...

Hmmm My version of Black Chancery by Cambridge Fontworks had EHIWY which were very much shorter than the remainder of the upper case. The tops were all aligned for numbers and upper case, they just stopped before reaching the base.... It's a rather nice design in all. With only 114 glyphs drawn it d...

Welcome to the wonder world of fonts. I don't know all the answers to your query, but I do know some pieces that may start you off easier. 1. You add characters or glyphs to font sets and not individually as I read. Open the font you wish to deal with (Arial here) into FCP. There is a True Type vers...

Ice'n-Gothic Bold
Looking at ATEP site's freely available font, Memo.ttf, it had 399 defined glyphs, same as your Ice'n-Gothic Bold of which only 222 had characters drawn. Running FCP validate corrected 218 glyphs leaving 21 which needed further manual intervention. Those characteristics seem very much the same genea...

I have little real knowledge only experience. When I find a font which has too much (or too little) space between lines I will adjust only (Format/ Settings.../ Windows) Win Ascent or Win Descent values up to the point just before a character may be clipped. The steps are: 1. Run a Font Test (F5) to...

Welcome to the FCP world! It's going to be more helpful to read the manual I'm afraid than try to follow the following. There are two types of errors (sorta) - contour and points. Contour errors are easier to fix but point errors are basic and you might need to address them eventually in order to fi...

You Will Learn to Love It
Hello rolfengelbrecht, I too had yearned to change the sequence of glyphs to an order I felt more rational. I too found no solution, so I learned to live with it! After awhile the consistent randomness of the presentation becomes familiar and you begin to see patterns: ..., 0-9, ..., A-Z, ..., a-z, ...

Erwin - thanks.
I also found the same problem on small letter w. Found (!) and deleted hidden point and the problem cleared up Nicely ... Now I am smarter too. I guess.

Pia Frauss did an awful lot of work in designing those fonts. I didn't have validation problems with any of them. Perhaps they have been changed since she originally posed the problem. The complex character was perfect as is. I am running Win XP Pro on Dell Pentium 4, 1.4gb cpu. 120gb disk - 30gb fr...
