Apply in OpenType Designer
If I don't hit [OK] (I'm paranoid) the computer will surely crash, the power will go down, an asteroid will... Do I do hit [OK] but have to open the window again and remember which Lookup I was working on.
An [Apply] would save my data and not disrupt the workflow.

[FIXED] New Kerning Pair window
I'm adding a kerning pair consisting of a character and a group. I check [Only Show Groups] and select a group, then I uncheck [Only Show Groups] to select the single character. My selection of the group is lost! Revresing the order (select single character first) does not work either. Also why does...

Re: Volt and FontCreator
[Please note: The editor stripped out or ignored my use of TAB so I replace the with UNDERSCORE] Here is a suggestion which will make it easier to move from VOLT to FC8. __________First position Second position Layout-VOLT __________Group-11 Group-12 __________Group-21 Group-22 __________… … _______...

Re: Volt and FontCreator
Fred, I see your VOLT file describes a font for religious texts as it has 'trope' or 'cantilation' marks. That makes things very much more complicated! There can be more than one mark below a Hebrew letter and layout can be tight. I don't have a list of FC8 v. VOLT differences and will probably coll...

Re: Volt and FontCreator
Fred, I fully understand your problem. I have only eleven fonts all of which used the same .VTP file so I bit the bullet and renamed the lookups and groups by hand. I can only suggest that you choose your most important or maybe your latest font project and convert by hand from VOLT to FC8. You may ...

Re: Hebrew Font Shuneet V2.0
Michael Kaner, The first thing to do is to make sure you computer works well with existing Hebrew fonts. Have a look at my FAQ: http://hebrew-font-shuneet.com/font/faq.html You need to be able to display existing Hebrew text - being able to enter Hebrew via the keyboard is less important. My advice ...

Re: Problem with > in Autometrics
I did a search of OS(C:) for "CompositeData.xml" and did not find it.
It did find "Subscript.xml" but I don't know why. Where can the file be hiding?

Re: Problem with > in Autometrics
Mkv, I'll just add this to your query so somebody more knowledgeable than I can answer a broader question. If â is a composite of a and has â has 'Use this glyphs metrics' checked in its composite window, then when a is adjusted by optical metrics, â will also be adjusted in the same way. Can someon...

Re: Transformations and Composites
For characters, such as punctuation and a host of symbols like dollar, asterisk etc I'm using a script like the one in my previous post above which first sets all the left side bearings and then a slightly different script sets all the right side bearings. There are many problems. Right bearing set ...

Re: Transformations and Composites
I tried your suggestion for an example: period & comma (simple) make colon and semicolon (composite)
and then I set the sidebearings. This transformation script seems to work:
This means that 'Make Simple' is similar to 'Decompose Composites'.

Re: Transformations and Composites
Bhikkhu, Thanks for your advice. I would like to apply it in a transformation script. Roughly like this: Select the composites for which I will change sidebearings using GlyphOverride Range. Make Simple Change the sidebearings using MetricsLeftSideBearing, OutlinePosition etc CompleteComposites Howe...

Transformations and Composites
I'm writing scripts to set all the sidebearings. With Hebrew it's mostly straightforeward, I set the sidebearings for letters but not the composites. When the letter (a simple glyph) gets moved the composites also move by themselves. Now I'm setting the sidebearing for punctuation which has more pro...

Re: Role of [Enter] in dialog box.
Erwin, Yes! I'd like to enter a kind of Override Range using Glyph Names instead of code points. Yes! When an exception occurs I would like to see the line number from the XML script. I have been doing most of my transforms by editing the XML script in WordPad. I found the following caused an except...
