As far as I know, FontCreator does support the Supplementary Private Use areas
F0000..FFFFF; Supplementary Private Use Area-A
100000..10FFFF; Supplementary Private Use Area-B
You should be able to add glyphs from this range using the Insert Characters dialogue.

Re: Font Creator, VOLT Ligatures and MS Word
It seems from this article that OpenType ligatures are not supported yet in Word. They're not in OpenOffice either.
I have a find and replace macro for use in OpenOffice.

Re: Character positioning problem with various size
If you can attach your font I can take a look at it for you (or someone else might pass by before me). There's an upload attachment tab below the reply box. TTF files are allowed. Unless the font is big, there is no need to zip it.

Re: Importing EPS glyphs into Font Creator
FontCreator version 6 will contain basic vector import support for ai, eps, pdf. Importing vectors will be many times faster than tracing bitmaps, especially high resolution ones. This new feature will certainly justify the upgrade price for many users who have been asking for this for years. It sh...

Re: Blanks
I presume that the missing glyph is period centre (ANSI 183). If you have the Premium version of Scanahand you can add that glyph (or any other glyph) to your fonts.
In Word, if you turn off show hidden characters, then you won't see the rectangles.

Re: Blanks
I want to knwow, why the space between two words is undefined in the font, that Scanahand creates? In Winword this space between the words is shown as an rectangle. The space character is defined in Scanahand fonts automatically. I suggest that you attach your font here so that we can look at it. S...

Re: Blanks
I suppose that the problem you have is with Smart Quotes. Word converts " and ' to “ and ‘ smart quotes. If your font created in Scanahand doesn't include those smart quote glyphs, you will see the .notdef glyph instead.
Is that right, or is it some other character that is missing?

Re: Concentric Half Ellipses
The fringe is a hairline at the edge of the ellipse. Instead of one contour, you still have two. Select the middle one and move it slightly to see the problem. Cut Ellipse.png Draw a pair of concentric ellipses and cut them in half with the knife tool (Pro Edition only). Hold down the shift key whil...

Re: my otf font not work in msoffice?
Is the problem necessarily to do with VOLT? Would it be worth checking using FontCreator 5.6 that in Format Settings... Ranges Unicode Character Ranges Edit... that the flags for Arabic, Arabic Extended, Arabic Presentation Forms-A and Arabic Presentation Forms-B are all checked? You might be right...

Re: my otf font not work in msoffice?
I see that you have already asked this question on the MS VOLT forums , which is where it belongs. FontCreator doesn't support OpenType Glyph Substitutions. Perhaps some users here have experience working with VOLT, but then they could just as well answer on the VOLT forums where more expert advice ...

Re: Shifting entire font up leads to cutting off top/bottom
If all descenders and line gap are zero, then the font is not going to sit on the baseline with regular fonts, which have descenders. Your font must have descender values similar to other pixel fonts.

Re: Stumped. what family are these characters from?
The first glyph is SUMMATION TOP (23B2 hex, 9138 decimal). The second glyph is N-ARY CIRCLED DOT OPERATOR (2A00 hex, 10752 decimal) They can be found in several different fonts. Cambria Math has both glyphs, and Summation Bottom, of course. Code 2000 and DejaVu Sans also have very many symbols. File...

Re: Auto Spacing Between Lines
It seems to be fine — there's nothing much wrong with the font metrics. Try uninstalling, reinstalling, and reboot if that doesn't work. Format, Settings, Metrics, Calculate will recalculate the metrics, but it will reduce the line spacing slightly. BTW. You can attach files to your post, it is more...
