Is Polytonic Greek used much these days?
I thought it was deprecated when they simplified the language in 1982.
What I need to know is how useful it would be to people to populate the Greek Extended unicode block ($1F00 to $1FFF).

Re: Is import of vector formats implemented?
I wouldn't agree that too much time should be spent on the drawing tools in FC. For what they are designed to do, they work well. Thing is, a vector drawing application will always be a more efficient means of actually drawing than any font editor. I can make a font using CorelDraw but it isn't eff...

[CLOSED] Windows Defender False Positive
I'm sure there is no Trojan in the latest update of Font Creator, it's just that Windows Defender says that there is and removed it for me. These actions destroyed the install files but the program is already installed and the removal hasn't affected the installed program, just the install files whi...

Re: Kerning for Greek
Most of my fonts only contain Basic Greek, which is not for Greek text but for Maths and similar uses in English text. Perhaps fonts with a full Greek Extended character set should have a Greek script and a separate kerning table for Greek. It's all a bit much to be honest. I prefer to have no more...

Re: Question about unlinked anchors.
Maybe another way to get around this problem would be to allow the user to filter the glyphs which appear in the add glyphs box in class manager, if they could be filtered to show glyphs which have a particular anchor that would be very useful.

Re: Green Circles Definition
It took me by surprise but it's quite easy to get used to.
and it is an improvement.
My only question would be, how close do the angles have to be before it is classified as a smooth curve?

Re: Autokern non-latin glyphs
Autokern only does Latin. If you want to kern Cyrillic then you have to manually kern them. There is a problem inherent in auto kerning other characters, there are a lot of them and if you auto kerned all characters then you would end up with enormous tables. The number of kerning pairs goes up prop...

Re: Node alignment
Yep, I read the help about the shortcuts already assigned. And context would take care of the overlap as mentioned. m would work, thanks. What if one is editing a colour glyph outline, selects two or more nodes to align them, then presses c or m? How does FontCreator know if the user wants to align...

Re: Ancient Gothic
I have (as always) done my own thing. I was just asking to see what other people do. Yes I understand that old handwritten text varies quite a lot, especially as in those times there weren't many people who could read and write so one individual with a different style could have a disproportionately...

If the apple logo is used for the screen furniture and someone uses Kelvinch Italic as their system font they may find an Easter Egg of sorts!

Re: Help with ligatures, etc.
Yes I agree that MS Word is not a good solution but one must be realistic, more than 90% of the people using your fonts will be using them with MS Word.

Ancient Gothic
I decided to take a break from placing anchors and have populated the 'Gothic' block of the new font (just the Roman so far). Most of the characters were simple to do except for the character 'Othal' $10349. There is a picture of it in the Unicode Code Charts, but I also downloaded a scan of a page ...

Re: Help with ligatures, etc.
There is a problem with Microsoft Word. It doesn't allow discretionary ligatures to be turned on independently of historical ligatures (which is a really stupid design decision in my opinion) so you can only have both or neither. As many users of fonts will be using them with Microsoft Word this is ...

Re: Question about unlinked anchors.
Right now there is no easy way. We could add a category to the font overview to show all glyphs with unlinked anchors. We could also try to "rebuild" a glyph class to include glyphs which have a specific Anchor. But before we start implementing such enhancements, it might be better to fir...
