Have you created a bold version of your font?

I can confirm that there is a problem if the "Large Fonts" setting is used in Desktop, Properties, Appearance. The dialogue should allow for this. Some other dialogues suffer from the same problem too, e.g. Options, General. The problem is worse with Extra Large fonts.

The values used for funits/em are multiples of 2 because computers work faster with binary maths. You can use 4096 or 8192 if you like. Nearly all programs need kerning to be enabled. OpenOffice Writer certainly does. Format, Character, Position, Pair Kerning.
