Select individual glyphs or a range of glyphs in the Overview window, and press the shortcut "P" to preview those glyphs in the Preview toolbar. Unlike the font test window, the Preview Toolbar will show kerning. If you don't want to lose your Font Test text, browse to: C:\Documents and Se...

William, I notice that you nearly always ask people to download your fonts, whether or not it is relevant to the question asked. Then you add numerous links to read technical documentation. People don't need to download your fonts. They already have plenty of fonts installed in their computers that ...

I checked the font. The problem with the font is that the space character has no mappings on the Microsoft Unicode BMP platform. I don't know how you managed to remove them. Perhaps you deleted the space glyph by mistake then added it back in manually. If you created your new font in FontCreator the...

The "official" way to do it is to use Glyph Substitution. This has the disadvantage that it doesn't work in programs that don't support OpenType features yet (which means most programs). Perhaps that will change in a few years. GSUB.png In this font (Yolanda), I set up glyph substitutions ...

Thank you for all of the replies. I do not believe that what I explained was "vague." You may not think so, but I am telling you that it was. You asked: I am wondering if FontCreator would be ideal for my use in creating symbology for mapping purposes. We use ArcGIS software developed by ...

There are a few other thrreads on GIS, such as this one Try a search for "GIS". The main requirement seems to be to rotate glyphs about their centre. To do that, I think you need to centre glyphs on the origin. I'm not sure what you need for the advance width. GIS fonts are a bit specialis...

Your question is too vague. FontCreator creates TrueType fonts, so I guess it will do what you need. I don't think you will find an easier program to use for font creation. Unicode fonts can contain thousands of symbols. Is your mapping program limited to using symbol fonts or the ANSI character set?

FontCreator doesn't support OpenType features, so you must have added them with another program. A link to the page might help someone to resolve the problem. Perhaps it depends on the browser used too.

I have one. It is called English 157 BT. You will some fonts in the Gallery, but I don't recall seeing one quite like Spencerian. http://www.spencerian.com/images/topper.jpg Maybe you will like Dave Crosby's Yolanda script. Or take a look at Pia Frauss's fonts — not exactly Spencerian though.

How to join contours depends on which version of FontCreator you're using. With the 30-day free trial, which is the same as the full professional edition, it is easy. You just select two or more overlapping contours in contour mode, and use "Get Union of Contours" from the toolbar. With th...

BTW, knowing his excellent work, if he wishes I hereby grant Bhikkhu Pesala full rights to make his version of this font any way he wishes. I like the font, and might enhance it to add to my collection of free fonts, but it is hard to make a script font with accents. The smart quotes are really pro...

Is your bitmap the recommended size?

Are you using the super smooth option?

Image

Try using the Smooth option or no smoothing option, and/or a higher resolution bitmap.

A few suggestions: Underline and strikeout values don't suit the font. Format, Settings, Post, and General tab. Try: Underline 75, -140 Strikeout 85, 385 I think the figure eight would work better if the upper loop was open, like the zero or the six, instead of crossing itself. Something like one of...

There is no key that does that as far as I know. However, if the overview window is maximized then the glyph edit window will also be maximized if you open it by pressing the Enter key. You can close any Window with Control + F4 if you don't like to use the mouse on the Window control buttons. Contr...
