Join the FontCreator 8 Beta Team!
A year ago we released FontCreator 7.0, which introduced several great new features and enhancements, like optical metrics, and script based support for OpenType Layout Features. In August 2013 we added color support to FontCreator version 7.5. All of these improvements proved to be a huge success. ...

Re: Copy from current glyph in background image menu
I notice that, for me, this button doesn't seem to do anything. From the manual, I would expect it to create a bitmap based on the current glyph and display it as a background image (which, by the way, would be incredibly useful), but it doesn't. "Show background image" gets checked, and ...

Re: Font Source Folder Column
One thing that is very high on out to-do list is font tagging, which allows you to specify one or more tags to a font. Tags can be anything e.g. Cars, Cartoon, Serif, Free, Funny.

Re: Glyph preview with stylistic set info
Quite a few OpenType fonts nowadays contain various alternative glyphs for characters, for example, alternative forms of 'a' and 'g', contained in stylistic sets. These glyphs can be seen in the character set pane when glyph view is activated. However, the only way to find out how to access such a ...

I'm sure we did fix it, but I suspect we somehow managed to reintroduce the bug. I'm sorry about this, but for now this has no priority for us.

Re: preferred family problem
In some cases the OpenType specification does not allow to specify these naming values; e.g. when they are equal to the regular naming fields. If you press the Help button you will see an explanation: Preferred Family ; For historical reasons, font families have contained a maximum of four styles, b...

This is how Arial Regular (font size 12) shows in Word:

Re: Problem with modified font
First of all; I'm not sure if you are allowed to make modifications to that font. So please read the license agreement (within the font), or even better contact the font vendor. Maybe there is an issue with hinting or with the OpenType layout features. Can you provide more information, so we can bet...

Re: Font keeps losing Postscript outlines.
I have a number of fonts I've collected over the years usually in separate packages that are not set up in proper families. I've been going through several of the fonts and editing just the properties of the font so they'll group properly as a font family in windows 7. When I do so though they alwa...

Re: Finding the non-unicode characters subset in an unicode
Using an application that is so outdated is asking for trouble... Modern software and fonts work with Unicode codepoints. You will need to know the codepage which is used by that software in order to understand what characters can be used. Even then it will be a lot of struggle to make things work. ...
