Thank you both for your replies. Heeding all the advice I am now equipped with recommended applications (although Directory Opus is out of my range in price). FontRenamer I already had.

So, all I need now is the patience to proceed!

Thanks :D

Scattered fonts

:? Even though I use MainType frequently, my fonts are scatterd all over my computer (Windows XP Media Edition) across three hard drives. In total the number of fonts will not be much above four thousand and some will be duplicated, triplicated and ?licated! Here's a challenge for the ingenuity of p...

What an excellent exposition. And how I agree. I did not find anything which needs changing.

I have been informed (Joop Jaggers) that MSWord 2003 supports OpenType features. Well then; now I have the application and suitable fonts, 'Lekhana' and 'Garava' (by virtue of Bhikkhu Pesala) to type nut fractions. The only thing missing is the knowledge of how it can be done using these tools! Joe.

If I were in this position I would save the template to Desktop, open the template in the much undervalued MS Paint and try to repair the erring character drawings. This repaired template could then be saved and, in Scanahand, loaded.

Hope this helps a bit.

Bhikku Pesala

I'm constantly amazed at the ways in which Font Creator is used so imaginatively. This must be the epitome of what Antoine de Saint-Exupery meant. What a succinct and efficient way to solve the problem of displaying a chess board and chess pieces. And all that in 25 glyphs!

Herein lies confusion!
A bearing is a white space, not a line. The dashed line is the bearing extent line. To "set a bearing at 0" is to have no white space - and that could mean to the left of the glyph or to the right.
