Re: Localizable Sentences Experiment font support

I always check this thread to see if you will ever come to the point. The problem is, I never see anything that looks like a philosophical basis for, well, anything. You devise all of these glyphs that you somehow imbue with meaning, but from the outside, it just looks like randomness, coupled with ...

Re: Emoji

And just to keep up with matters, the Beta for Unicode 6.1 has been released. It includes 17 new emoji added to the Emoticons, and Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs blocks; seven new scripts: Meroitic Hieroglyphs, Meroitic Cursive, Sora Sompeng, Chakma, Sharada, Takri, and Miao (Pollard); 143 Ar...

Mike
It should be in your FCP folder ./Composites, and it's too large for me to upload to the forum.

Re: Platforms for higher planes

The higher plane platforms for windows are platform ID=0, encoding ID=4, Cmap format=12 (Cmap format is automatically selected by FCP); also known as Unicode 2.0 and later semantics, Unicode full repertoire; and platform 3, encoding 10 in format 12, which is the Microsoft full Unicode UCS-4, and I'm...

Re: Are the GPOS and GSUB tables deleted

Thanks very much for your answer. Is support for GPOS and GSUB something that has been mentioned for an upcoming version? Ariel Yes, there have been requests for OpenType tables (see the Requests and Enhancements forum), and as of last year, it was anticipated as possibly - let me reiterate, it was...

Re: Problems regarding Hebrew and Plane 1

For the Hebrew issues, I would check to make sure that you have the Unicode Character Range for Hebrew selected at Format:Settings:Ranges. Do the autocalculation, then slip into the edit dialogue and make sure that Hebrew is selected. For your SMP issues, you need to make sure that you have a Cmap t...

Re: Alternate letters based on preceding character.

You need to get into OpenType in order to define contextual characters. There are some threads on adding OpenType features to fonts if you do a search on this forum, or you can download Microsoft Typography's Visual OpenType Layout Tool (Microsoft VOLT). Depending on what software you use, you may a...

Re: Kerning Test

I scored a 78 the time I did it, but I couldn't figure out how to actually do the first one, and ended up submitting it before doing anything. By my back of the hand math, that put my real score at 86 (78/90*100).

Re: Double Point feature

Mike, if you want to create an appendage off of a previously designed character (say an "o" with a horn: ơ ), you may want to add control points without effecting the shape, in order to give yourself places to interrupt the curve. That's one example. I end up doing a lot of geometric type ...

Excellent. Thanks for the pointer, Bikkhu. I think those will do very well for what I'm investigating. Much thanks.

Odd request

I am looking for a font with embedded bitmaps in order to investigate the EBDT, EBLC, and EBSC truetype tables. It doesn't matter what the coverage is, but the font needs to have both regular TrueType outlines and corresponding embedded bitmaps (eg for small display sizes).

Thanks for any help.

Re: Importing Images- eps files

With your "B", all you have to do is change the direction of the lower counter. You can do this by right clicking, or selecting the counter and hitting the change direction icon on the toolbar (it's a U-shaped blue arrow with a green rectangle in the middle). That's it to fix the B.

Re: Double Point feature

Well obviously, there is a means of doing it, otherwise I couldn't have generated the image. The trouble is that I find myself doing it a lot, but it requires determining the direction of the contour, and multiple steps thereafter. It seems to be a basic operation that is overly convoluted to accomp...
