Erwin, can you tell me how to include the Macintosh platform? Which Specific Platform Encoding am I supposed to choose?

I disagree. Admittedly, these bearing lines don't have any influence on the effective glyph width. On the other hand they don't do any harm, and the fact that they can be seen might prevent errors when the "use this glyphs metrics" has been ticked inadvertently, which happened to me more t...

I remember having this kind of problem too. In my experience it is NOT a FontCreator issue. In my case the problem was caused by glyphs which had a zero advance width. Setting the advance width to, say, 5 units makes hardly any visual difference. I hope this solves your problem.

In the sit you mention you wrote: "The private characters will be visible only on your PC." From this I conclude that the eudcedit data are stored somewhere in the registry. Is this correct? If so, is it possible to identify the proper part of the registry and export this part? This might ...

Your problem is not related to creating fonts, it has to do with keyboard input. I suggest you download the free Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator. In that application you can program the ` key (or any key, for that matter) as a dead key.

I just found out Microsoft has released a new version of its Keyboard Layout Creator, which is Vista compatible. It can be found at the link in the first post of this thread. The new version also runs on previous versions of Windows, but in that case not all new features are available. I'm happy to ...

My critical remarks made nearly four years (!) ago prove to be not completely correct. I later found out that the problems I mentioned are limited to the & key (Shift+7). People at Microsoft have confirmed this bug. This bug does NOT show up when testing the keyboard in MSKLC, which is most anno...

After ticking all the check boxes you should select "Overrule same mappings". Now the new glyphs are identical to the original ones and have the correct encodings (which you moved to the new glyphs by selecting "Overrule same mappings"). Then you should make one of the new glyphs...

There *is* a - quite laborious - way to do what you want. You need to create new *composite* glyphs. Take the following steps: - Add the number of glyphs you want to change. - Select the glyphs you want to change. - Press Ctrl-C to copy these glyphs to the clipboard. - Select the added glyphs, which...

Strange! After temporarily installing the font it shows its FC Test Font ##### name. After installing it properly the real name is invisible again. The how and why is beyond me.
Anyhow, thanks for looking into this problem so promptly!

I'm afraid this post doesn't help. I *did* delete the FNTCACHE.DAT file, but after a reboot the font still refuses to show its identity. I'm pretty sure the font is OK, as the name can be seen in other applications like WordPad, Publisher, PopChar, and MainType. What can be the problem?

Font name doesn't show

I've finished working on a font which, unfortunately, doesn't show its name in the font drop down list in Word 2003. Remarkably, once chosen the font shows the correct name. It also shows up in font lists in other programs. Any idea if the problem is in the font or could it be an error in Word?

Thank you very much for your prompt reaction. Thanks to your help I've been able to save the font. Probably the original font already had some flaws.
