Re: Open Type Question
Hrm. Appears to be a compiling error (btw, you can't copy the error message, which is a bit annoying. Hence the screen shot.) Missing semi-colon(s), it says. I think the lines sub a j -> aj sub b j -> bj sub c j -> cj (etc) need to be terminated by semicolons: sub a j -> aj; sub b j -> bj; sub c j ...

Re: Open Type Question
If your font is designed so that these ligatures should be used by default, use the rlig (required ligature) feature. If you want the user to decide whether to use them, then use the liga (StandardLigatures) feature instead. If you're leaving their use to the user's discretion, shouldn't you use th...

Re: "Most interesting man in the world" font
I think it might be Engravers' Oldstyle 205.

Re: "Most interesting man in the world" font
The round O made me wonder whether it might be Perpetua, but that doesn't match in several other respects. Monotype Sabon looks a better match, but that dual serif is missing from the top of the M and (like TNR and Perpetua) the legs aren't splayed enough.

Re: Portable Executable File Format
include hidden identifiers Or not so hidden! Earlier today I was looking for Caflisch Script. All the indications were that it was a commercial script from Adobe, but I found it listed as a free font on Font-Zone ("Font Name: Caflisch Script Web Regular, Author: Unknown"). I duly download...

Re: How to add lowercase letters
I don't think most ordinary users are comfortable with Hexadecimal notation (unless they have done some coding). Point taken, although you don't need to understand it in any detail in order to use it in this situation. You just need to add 2 to the first digit (so $41 for 'A' becomes $61 for 'a', $...

Re: How to add lowercase letters
To add a mapping to an existing glyph, first set the Display Format to "Decimal" from the View menu, open the Glyph properties toolbar, type the lowercase mapping (Uppercase mapping + 32), separated by a comma, and click Apply. Repeat for each uppercase glyph, adding 32 to the Uppercase c...

Re: Font Validator confused by counterclockwise contours?
Apologies once again. It's clear to me now that I overlooked the fact that I must have corrected the 'intersecting coordinates' errors to enable the 'contours with incorrect direction' tests to take place. I simply chose 'Effects > Hollow' in the Transform Wizard; I don't seem to have an 'Outline Li...

Font Validator confused by counterclockwise contours?
After using the Glyph Transformer to create an outline (hollow) version of a font, I ran the Font Validator to see what needed tidying up. As expected, there were quite a lot of glyphs with intersecting coordinates, but there were also a few 'Contours with incorrect direction' errors. If I let the v...

The 'l' and 't' are different, but the other letters in 'select' look like Runway.

Re: Custom font or what here?
I think it's unlikely that anyone would build or commission a custom font for a logo like that. It looks like a standard font with a few tweaks applied in a drawing or page layout program (probably the same one as was used to create the poster). I have a similar font here, named 'Autumn', but I'm su...
