Based on the information you've provided, I don't think there is a problem with your font. We are not Microsoft Word experts, so I suggest you contact Microsoft. Do let us know your results.

Embedding symbol fonts might not work in Word. What version of Microsoft Word do you have?

Have you tried if it works in a regular manually created document, and also try to do this on another system as a cache issue might be the cause of the problem.

MainType should find all fonts, but only shows fonts that are not filtered out by the Filter setting. So please confirm you've not accidentally unchecked PostScript Type 1 Fonts in the Filter dialog.

I don't have these fonts installed so I can't look into it. What do you see when you copy and paste text from the PDF to a new document?

Your font is a Symbol font, so it should contains glyphs which represent symbols, and those glyphs should have matching postscript names like ornament1, ornament2, etc.

So, no there is no automatic way of adding "Symbol Char" names.
