Re: Copy-pasting glyphs also retains hinting?
If you copy/paste a glyph within the same font to a new glyph in the glyph overview, the hinting will be retained. However, as soon as you modify it in any way apart from adjust the right side-bearing, the hinting will be lost — check the little H at the intersection of the rulers. Thanks for this ...

Copy-pasting glyphs also retains hinting?
Hello. I would like to know if I copy-paste a hinted glyph from one font to another or from one location to another within a font, will it retain any hints associated with the glyph or would they be lost?

Re: Size of contour reported wrongly?
The harder one looks at the detail of any software, the more bugs one can find, but its only by prolonged use of a program that one can know which bugs are important to fix and which are minor or trivial. Some bugs should actually be left unfixed, because they have useful spin-offs, and fixing them...

Re: Cubic to quadratic conversion when importing vectors
Apart from that, there should be nodes only when it is absolutely unavoidable for maintaing the proper desired shape of the curve (as in circular/elliptic components) I cannot offer a mathematical proof of the matter, yet my understanding of quadratic Bézier curves is that it is, with absolute math...

Re: Size of contour reported wrongly?
You sure have a lot of expectations about how the program should work. How long have you been using it? I have been using FC only recently, but I've been using computers for almost fifteen years and have obviously used a great variety of programs starting from very old CUIs like WordStar, Lotus 1-2...

Re: Size of contour reported wrongly?
Well all this is very confusing. Let me just say what the user expectation is of the Size tab in the Transformer toolbox. If I click on a contour, the Size tab should show me its current size in W and H. If I enter a numerical value for either W or H or both and click Apply , it should resize the co...

Re: Size of contour reported wrongly?
You have aspect ratio checked. The Transform toolbar is showing you what the size will be if you click on "Apply." Just uncheck "aspect ratio" if you want to know the current size. This behaviour is unchanged whether aspect ratio is checked or not. Anyhow, come on -- I didn't ev...

[Resolved] Size of contour reported wrongly?
Please download OFL-ed Lohit Tamil font from here and open it in FC. Go to glyph name u0BE6 TAMIL DIGIT ZERO. Open the glyph for editing by double clicking it. Click on the central unfilled circle and view its size in the Transform toolbox. It shows 395x410. Now click on the external filled circle ...

Re: Units used in bold, thin and hollow transformations
It was a design decision to not allow undo there. It requires a lot of development efforts to implement it. I can add your request to our to-do list, but I believe there are more important things on it. Hm? Undo is already there, no? Would it really be more complicated than: if len(selected_glyphs)...

Re: Insert glyph action differs from right-click vs toolbar
I would vote for no change. Users tend to prefer one method (toolbars or menus) over another, so the current inconsistency is only a problem for those who alternate between both methods. Sir, why does the program provide multiple methods? To let people use whichever is convenient to them at any giv...

Re: Units used in bold, thin and hollow transformations
And what is the reason for Glyph Transform not being undoable, which seems somewhat silly (sorry to say)? The amount of memory required to store the undo information can be way too big. See all you need to store is the initial state and the final state. I don't think it is important to store each i...

Ouch OK. I didn't think of that. Silly me.Erwin Denissen wrote:Use the button [<] in the middle of the dialog to move one feature out of your script.

Re: Insert glyph action differs from right-click vs toolbar
The right-click menu item says "Add." The toolbar icon tooltip says "Insert." I am also inconsistent, but not always. :) The point is, the icon is the same, and there is no meaning to having differing behaviour. Anyone who wanted to "Insert" would go to the "Inser...

Re: Units used in bold, thin and hollow transformations
Unless otherwise shown on the transform dialogue, then the units are always funits. Hmm, only experimentation reveals that the funits are doubled in the sense that if I ask FC to thin a glyph vertically by 10 funits, a vertical stroke width of 100 is actually reduced to 100 - 2 * 10 = 80, and likew...

Glyph transformer provide for removing each item in a script
If there are more than one transforms added to the list of transforms in the Glyphs Transformer, and we hit the red X button on the right, then it totally zaps all the transforms which we have added. This is totally unexpected behaviour. Normally if we have a delete button to the right of a list of ...
