[FIXED] Glyph transformer parameter change not updated
Steps to reproduce: Select a glyph. Open the glyph transformer from Tools menu. Add Effects > Thin (just an example). You see parameters in a pane in the lower half of the dialog. Change one of the parameters. Say change vertical parameter of Thin to 100. Move to a different field. Expected result:...

[FIXED] Insert glyph action differs right-click vs toolbar
In the Glyph Overview window if I right-click on a glyph and say "Add", obviously meaning "Add glyph", it adds an empty glyph after the selected glyph. OTOH if I use the toolbar button having the same icon, it adds a glyph before the selected glyph. This behaviour is inconsistent...

Re: Cubic to quadratic conversion when importing vectors
I would also appreciate an answer to the question whether it is possible to import quadratic outlines from other applications somehow. But given that FC doesn't support SVG format, it seems difficult since PDF (or EPS, all based on PostScript) only, if this is any indication: PostScript is noteworth...

Re: Cubic to quadratic conversion when importing vectors
A feature to optimise contours in order to reduce the number if required points is in our to-do list. I hope it will make it into FC7. Good. FWIW I'll just recount what I said in a previous post on this thread on which minimal points should be allowed in a contour: There should be nodes (on-curve p...

Re: Unable to cut a contour using a knife
I deleted all but the on-curve on the far left. They are useless points generated by automatic conversion from EPS. They must have been there within the original source image. Nothing FontCreator can do about it right now. Do take a closer look at the EPS/PDF to confirm this. You're right, I'm sorr...

Re: Unable to cut a contour using a knife
I downloaded a copy of the sample font that you provided. Thank you for posting it. I noticed that all three contours are in the wrong direction. The following sequence of manual operations solves that problem. Hey William, thanks for the trouble, but I already can change directions by right-clicki...

Re: Unable to cut a contour using a knife
Make sure there are no self-intersecting contours. Hi and thanks for this. I can now cut it. But really if I am trying to use the knife on overlapping/intersection contours it throws me an error. If cutting self-intersecting contours is also not allowed, then the app should throw me an error instea...

Unable to cut a contour using a knife
Hello. Please find attached a glyph being developed for a Unicode proposal I am working on. It is that of the old Tamil fraction kaalviicam (கால்வீசம்) i.e. 1/64. I designed it in Inkscape by potracing an old printed glyph, rasterizing it at 600 dpi, had autotrace work out a centerline from it (outs...

Re: Cubic to quadratic conversion when importing vectors
Have you read this thread yet? . I have read it now. Thanks. I'm glad others have the same sentiment as I. It seems to me that there is no solution to this problem other than learning to use the tools in FontCreator for manipulating curves. Surely the way to go is to improve the vector tools, e.g. ...

Re: Cubic to quadratic conversion when importing vectors
The on-curve/off-curve control points are inherent to the true type font format. Cubic bezier splines cannot ever be stored in a true type font. They must be converted. So the node/handle paradigm that you are so used to - and which absolutely baffles me whenever I've tried to use it - is never goi...

I completely share the sentiments of that author. And of course the tools in FC already allow for manipulating...

Cubic to quadratic conversion when importing vectors
Hello Erwin (and others). I hope I'm right on the following points: FC only supports quadratic Beziers as they are what are used in the TrueType format. When importing EPS or PDF files, FC converts each cubic Beziers to a pair of quadratic ones. Could you please then clarify: Is there an importable ...

Re: Skew transform should use angle instead of tangents
1) This still doesn't make the angle capability available from the Transform dialog where it is often likely to be used. (I personally use the Glyph Transformer when unavoidable as in for multiple glyphs etc.) 2) If the only difference between the italic transform and the skew transform is the input...

Bolden and thinning should use percentages as parameters
For boldening and thinning via the glyph transformer I sincerely feel that percentages are the best and most intuitive parameters that can be used. The current width of the stroke is 125 funits and I wish to reduce it to 112, so horizontal thinning factor: 89.6%. Likewise for height of stroke I want...

Units used in bold, thin and hollow transformations
Hello. Nowadays I am occasionally finding the need to use the thin/bold transformations via the Glyph Transformer wizard. It is absolutely unclear however as to what the numbers I am entering into the horizontal/vertical fields signify. Do they signify percentage of change, or do they signify absolu...
