Re: CLSID

In the ScanaHand support forum a similar problem has been reported. Installing a more recent version of FontCreator doesn't solve the problem: installing still requires an apparently missing CLSID key.

Re: Failure to install font: missing CLSID key

The first option doesn't work. FontCreator still requires a CLSID key.

CLSID

Windows 7, FontCreator 6.0. After modification and renaming a font FontCreator refuses to install the font font because a CLSID number seems to be missing. However, it can be installed without any problem by rightclicking the font's file name in Windows. What's wrong?

Re: Problems with line spacing

Thanks for your kind offer, Erwin. However, shortly after the modified font showed a wider line spacing my computer started to behave strange in other respects as well. So I''ll figure out first if the font works correctly on other computers and sort out my other computer errors rather than - possib...

Re: Problems with line spacing

Dave: No, I didn't.

Erwin: No, this item was ticked when I opened the fonts, so I guess the VDMX table has been removed. Is this something new in FontCreator 6? In the past the modified font had exactly the same line spacing as the original one.

Re: Problems with line spacing

There is no vertical metrics table in either font, so the puzzle remains unsolved.

Problems with line spacing

I have adapted a font by adding a number of characters without changing anything else (as far as I know). Now the line spacing in the adapted font is considerably bigger than in the original font. This surprises me. because the values in the Format / Settings / Metrics screen are identical. Is there...

Re: Font Creator 6.01 update oddity

I can confirm this oddity. Even after removing all previous versions from my system I got the error message when installing 6.0.1. Still waiting for the registration code, though...

Re: Saving an OTF font

I saved them somewhere in the middle to make them quicker to locate when adding those glyphs in Adobe. I went back and realized that two of them were placed in front of the "ff" gylph. I have regenerated my font with the gylphs closer to the end, or at least after all of the glyphs that I...

Re: Saving an OTF font

Just curious. When you added some glyphs did you add them at the end of the font or did you put them somewhere in the middle?

Meaning of 'Version'?

In the tab "Ranges" in Format t-Settings there are 4 versions selectable under "Contents and Layout". What's the difference between these Versions?

Microsoft Word 2003 (and 2007 I assume) supports some basic OpenType features. Bhikkhu's approach to ligatures is completely different from and incompatible with OpenType. His macros *replace* two glyphs, say f and i, with one glyph, the ligature fi. After doing this the word "fist" looks ...

I'm afraid it cannot be done automatically. I think this is due to the fact that the bearings are *calculated* values, not independent values by themselves. The left side bearing is the calculated distance between the left side bearing point (usually at x=0) and the most left point of the glyph, the...

Thanks for your prompt reply. The problem is that Macintosh Roman only supports the first 256 characters. Is there a way to make more Unicode sets available on a Macintosh?
