× Mirror diagonal
One last idea that I came up with is expanding the mirror function to allow mirroring diagonally, across either a guideline, or a diagonal drawn through two specified points. This would require two radio buttons, the first with a single field for indicating the guideline about which to mirror (see h...

Re: Position to guideline
A second idea is to have a check-box under the radio buttons on the Transform:Size, Skew, Rotation, and Scale tabs labeled X, Y that replaces the 3x3 radio buttons with X and Y position boxes that would allow you to size, skew, rotate, and scale in reference to a point not at the middle or center of...

Position to guideline
In the spirit of crazy ideas that I come up with, I guess I should put out this one: It would be handy to be able to move a point vertically or horizontally to a guideline, or to the intersection of two guidelines, with the transform toolbar. This would require allowing non-funit values in the Trans...

Re: Announcing the Unicode Standard, Version 6.1
Note that the emoji-style variation sequences are mostly for those characters that were included in previous versions of the Unicode Standard, and were unified with the emoji repertoire. Characters added specifically as emoji characters - including all the emoticons and Plane 1 symbols and pictograp...

Re: Advice on SVG to TTF conversions (already googled)
I usually just draw an octagon with all the points set to X or Y = 0 or 1000, then rotate about the middle 45 degrees, and repeat until the points all lie on the 0/1000 lines, no matter how I rotate them. Then you just change all the points to off-curve, and you have a very good circle in not much t...

Re: Emoji
Just to add a bit of context for those unfamiliar with the history of emoji and the Unicode encoding thereof, this proposal by Peter Edberg (of Apple computers) is to allow the specification of emoji presentation styles for characters that were not encoded as emoji, but rather as regular compatibili...

Re: Weight of Regular and Bold
I think the only thing it is safe to expect when you hit the "bold" button is that the result will be heavier than the "unbold" option. Many fonts do not have explicit bold faces, so you are often just getting a generated heavier face. It's great that you are going to all this wo...

Re: How to substitute a glyph when two characters are writte
This requires advanced features like OpenType, Apple Advanced Typography, or Graphite control. Microsoft Typography has fairly extensive documentation on how to make OpenType Arabic fonts in the MS Visual OpenType Layout Tool (MS VOLT), and Graphite is pretty easy to program (available from SIL, int...

I know what you're talking about, as I can remember it happening before, but I can't seem to reproduce it in FCP 6.5. What version are you using, and have you tried downloading the latest version?

It appears embroidered, so it may be impossible to find anything but an approximate match. However, that is a task best left to people with a vastly different skill set than I... Best of luck.

For example, please consider the Thank you for visiting sign in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, as featured in Google Streetview, that I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread. http://forum.high-logic.com/viewtopic.php?p=16058#p16058 That sign has localizations into several other languag...

Re: Localizable Sentences Experiment font support
Ok. What makes you think that this is preferable to other localization schemes? To which other systems that do the same task are you referring please? Are you honestly saying that you know of no other means of translating from one language to another? It requires billions of people around the world...

This research is essentially interdisciplinary. It involves Infromation and Communications Technology, it involves linguistics and it involves graphic design. Also, it needs specialist involvement from experts in the particular aspect of application. For example, I have devised some sentences about...
