Re: • Optical Metrics — Tabular Figures

Sometimes (and not so uncommon), regular and italic or bold may be used in a single numerical tabulation. To deal with this I would suggest having a width field associated with the Numerical Tabulation option. If the field is left blank then the average advance is computed but if a value is provided...

Re: .notdef is gone!

I have been looking at past backups to find when the problem arose. At that time I was working in two directories, one for FC editing of pure TT files and the second for VOLT work. After each session of FC work I would copy the TT files to the directory for VOLT work. I never copied files touched by...

[CLOSED] .notdef is gone!

How is this to be explained. For most of my current projects, the first character is now named .null and has codepoints: $00, $08, $09, $0D, $1D One of my projects still has the first glyph named: .notdef but with codepoints $08, $09, $1D For all of these projects, this glyph still has the rectangle...

Re: Problem with > in Autometrics

Bhikkhu, I agree and furtheremore I would like a way of choosing which characters to omit. Maybe the Optical Metrics could be a Wizard with the first tab asking if we want to omit any characters, and if the answer is YES, Font Creator would make select all the characters it proposes to process. We w...

Problem with > in Autometrics

I have used the Optical Auometrics for all my fonts with apparently good results.
The exception is the greaterthan sign. In all the fonts the bearing on the left is
far too wide and the bearing on the right is maybe a little too small.
The lessthan sign is ok.

Reusing a set of Guidelines

I have just set up a system of ten guidelines to help me get a consistent style in a font. Now I would like to use the same guidelines to do this with another font. Alas when opening another project, the guidelines were not present. Is there an way of copying the guidelines from one project to anoth...

Re: Changing Glyph Names

I got it to work by creating a new glyph with that code point.
However I'm not happy with that solution. If I have already
modified the font with real improvementS I will want to save my changes
but not to save anything to do with "F000;ver 12-14-2013

Re: Open Type Tables after exporting TT font

Bhikkhu, Thanks for telling me about the Font Properties Extension - how could I have lived so long without it? The file saved by FC6 has "No OpenType Layout table (GSUB,GPOS) found in font." Yhe file saved by FC7 has: "----OpenType Layout Tables ---- Latin [latn] Script -----Default ...

New Transform command 'Select'

Now we have the capability of added our own glyph names, we might benefit by using them in Transformation scripts. For instance: Select bet, kaf, ayin, pe, tsadi, tav Bearings L:-50 would set the left side bearings for a group of letters that have similar left hand sides. Saved as set_leftbearing_gr...
