This Chess Font uses another method to lay out a chess board like this: Chessboard.png The white pieces on white squares are capital letters: B, K, N, P, Q, R while the black pieces on white squares are lowercase b, k, n, p, and q. The pieces with squares are composites of the space character and th...

Thanks for pointing that out William. You just gave me an idea.

One could design a pair of fonts: Regular with black and white pieces on white squares, and Bold with black and white pieces on black squares.

See this earlier discussion . As well as the common ff, fl, fi ligatures, I added a few more. They are very easy to make with the knife tool and "Get Union of Contours," which is available in the Professional Edition of FontCreator.

You can add the correct mappings for z dot below from the Glyph Properties, Mappings dialogue. Click on Select, choose the appropriate character set (Latin Extended Additional in this case), then select the character mappings to add.

The option to save fonts as Type 1 is not available in FontCreator. Try TypeTool from Fontlab.

Sort Font is another toolbar button that could be added to the Standard Toolbar. Customisability is probably a major task and not very important in my view.

This option is not on the poll, perhaps because it is hard to implement, but the obvious choice would be to have an option to "Automatically update them, so they match with the composite glyph member." Leave the option unchecked and the bearings don't update. Much like the Option on the Fo...

I tested the font with the same result in IE 7, which required the Simplified Chinese language pack to be installed.

Opera renders the test page without any line breaks or spaces.
It looks like an HTML coding problem to me.

I am not able to reproduce this problem. The accented letters on this page are created using combining diacritical marks. They display correctly in both Opera and Internet Explorer. Are you sure that you have set the advance width to zero, as well as setting the negative left side-bearings? Can we g...

Colour or grey scales are not possible in fonts, (unless you fake it with hundreds of dots). To get a white circle, make two, one slightly smaller inside the other, then change the direction of the inner one. Copy and paste one circle, then scale or resize the inner one using the Transform Toolbar F...

Here's a tip from Dave Crosby: A BIG problem with large collections is duplicates. A terrible loss is to accidentally replace a good font with a bad one that was given the same name. Columns is helpful in locating dupes and preventing this problem. Press the Columns button and rearrange them as you ...

There is a gap of 12 empty cells in Alphabetic Presentation Forms after ligature st from FB07 to FB12 — personally I think that is where they belong because that is what they are.
