Re: Position to guideline

I am working on two sets of fonts simultaneously and I find it distracting, as well as frustrating, to have to change some guidelines according to which set I am working with. A saved guideline file would be very desirable and very easy to implement. Also, the opportunity to change individuals guide...

Re: Automatic metrics

You are right again! The mistake was mine because after I highlighted a range of glyphs I then pressed the double arrow icon instead of the single arow icon. My mistake again.
Thanks again for your support.

Validation command

I think there may well be another bug with the validation command. When the Edit Glyph window is open and I validate the glyph at the end of the design cycle, the program makes a validation of all the glyphs rather than just the selected glyph. This slows the process of consolidation considerably if...

Automatic metrics

The automatic metric command seems to have a bug. Yesterday I selected a range of East Asian glyphs on which I had to change the advance width and leaving the Latin alphabet glyph sets unselected. After the operation all East Asian glyphs were correctly advanced tot he new width but so it happened a...

Re: Adjustment of Advance Width

That was a great suggestion, William. It works fine also on the latest 6.5 version. Actually, I never really understood the dialog box on the Autometrics and I was too lazy to find out. But I did suggest to Erwin that he should review his manual!
You deserve a couple of pints of beer.

Adjustment of Advance Width

Hi, I have another little problem with the Asian Languages script. I chose initially an advance width of 1600 points (left to right bearings)believing that to be enough. However, I am now doing some Kanji characters which really do not fit in 1600 points horizontally and require up to 1800 points. I...

Re: Asia languages

Problem resolved. It was due to the need to recalculate the range.

Asia languages

HI, I am developing a Japanese character set loaded on both a laptop running XP SP3 and another running Windows 7 Ultimate. On both laptops the Microsoft IME is enabled and it operates correctly. However, whenever I use my Japanese font, the program (Word) automatically reverts to the default charac...

[CLOSED] version 6.2 crashes under Windows 7

Hi Erwin, My laptop has crashed twice over the last few days while working with Font Creator 6.2. On both occassions double clicking on a glyph to open it did not execute. Repeating clicks to open the glyph result in the crash. Windows 7 responds very well and shuts down followed by an automatic res...

[FIXED] Fit to windows (/) does not work

Hi,

I am unable to get the forward slash, /, to work as a macro for "fit to window". Is it a bug or is there a special procedure. The other shortcut A, F. N work fine.

[CLOSED] escape key does not reset previous knife selection

In version 6.2 often after the cut contour (knife) selection has been used, the escape key fails to reset the cursor and forces one to close that selection with the mouse. This is frustating. Can you please correct this bug? :( Thanks

Re: Character mappings Names & Insert characters

Hi Pesala, Thanks for your reply. I am aware of the Unicode Musical Symbols mappings; the problem is that their hex code results in a six-digit Alt+Decimal Digits combination which is cumbersome. Additionally, this range is not displayed by Windows Character Map. Hence the need to use a range that W...

Character mappings Names & Insert characters

Issue Background: I inserted some new characters, about 20 in all, to build some basic glyphs for use with medieval 4-lines music score. I utilised characters starting with Unicode 1239 (decimal) even if this category is reserved for Armenian characters. Problem Issue: I now would like the mapping n...

Font Creator 5.6 running under Vista

I upgraded my PC from XP to Vista. When running Font Creator 5.6 I noticed two problems: 1- pressing F5 causes a slow response whereas in XP it used to be instanteneous. Also all the gliphs seem to go through a refresh cycle. 2- Saving the file is also slow. 3- During this morning's session my PC ha...
