The illustration is not detailed enough to get much idea what the font looks like.
This page shows some larger samples of the Swift Font.

Re: Custom layout as default layout
Here on Windows XP it starts up with whatever layout I was using the last time, which is what I would expect.

Re: Aligning Glyphs
You moved the goal-posts — no wonder they don't align to the origin. Your first illustration looks like a bitmap, not a vector image. The rules for import are different. Bitmaps will align the lowest and left-most pixel to the origin. Vector images have the origin at the bottom left corner of the pa...

Re: Aligning Glyphs
Do you have an example image that doesn't import at 0,0 ? Perhaps we can work out why it doesn't. You can set both of the side-bearings to any desired value using the Transform toolbar or Glyph transformer, but setting the y offset from the baseline is not possible AFAIK. Anyway, if a drawing has a ...

Re: Aligning Glyphs
There's the Glyph Transform Wizard "Move" function, of course, to move all glyphs by a fixed x,y value. However, with your complex glyphs I suspect it would be quicker to draw a pixel (or L cross-hair) on the bottom left corner of the originals at the point where you want the origin to be....

Re: Insert Characters
Not reproducible unless the lowercase "n" is already mapped to another glyph.
If you cannot find the glyph with a search (Ctrl F) attach your font here for testing.

Re: One Suggestion
YourFonts.com promises to let you preview your font for free, which it does, so there is no reason to feel cheated. Here is one I just created at Your Fonts.com with some of my own sample text in the first line. Font Preview.png I think the trial version of Scanahand also lets you see a preview of ...

MainType will show all glyphs if you enable that option on the character pane.

Re: Designers: How do u handle thousands of fonts?
No answers yet from MainType users? I use MainType rather less than FontCreator, but what I do is organise my fonts in groups/folders according to foundry/program source. MainType can produce a nice font catalogue like this, which I have put online to share with other users of Serif™ products. Futur...

Re: See fonts
Poppy, you can see some results on my Review Page for Scanahand . Yes, you can create music fonts, symbols fonts, or handwriting fonts with Scanahand. However, you may have problems with spacing for swashes or steeply slanted italics where the strokes need to overlap the previous or next character. ...

Re: Mapping more than one Unicode character to one glyph
What you need is OpenType glyph substitution, which requires the use of a third-party program such as VOLT or the OpenType Compiler referred to in this Tutorial thread on Adding OpenType Features You can create all of the glyphs in FontCreator, but adding the code to substitute the combined glyph wh...

Re: I am looking for a font generator
Just how limited is the home addition? Can you create a font in graphic program and import into home addition. Yes, the Home Edition of FontCreator can import bitmaps or vectors created in a drawing program to create the individual glyphs that make up a font. Import vector based images (EPS, AI, PD...

Re: I am looking for a font generator
It sounds as if you're the creative type so Scanahand may be the best choice for you — its also the cheapest. For even less money, you can get individual fonts made from your scans at Your Fonts.com using the same basic method as Scanahand. Draw the fonts on paper using a template, scan the drawings...

Re: opentype glyphs not displayed
Its not a bug — OpenType glyphs won't be displayed in MainType unless they are mapped to a code-point.
Most OpenType fonts don't map these extra glyphs, though some do, e.g. Myriad Pro or Minion Pro. Try viewing those fonts in MainType — you will find them in the Adobe Reader folder.
