Re: Placing Diacritical Marks on the Side of Characters.
Yes, its possible to use any number of combining diacritical marks on one character as long as you design them not to clash with each other.

Re: Placing Diacritical Marks on the Side of Characters.
This case shows why it is best to use composite characters — the advance width of the base character depends on which diacritic is combined with it. If the accent is typed below or above the base glyph, it has no effect, if it is positioned after the base glyph the diacritic can have its own advance...

Re: Cannot rotate/mirror?
But when I open up a font (any font it seems) in FontCreator, the rotate, mirror, etc (basically every option in the Transform window) is greyed out. Am I missing something? Why is everything greyed out? Is it because I'm using a trial version? No, its not because its a trial version. Its because y...

Re: Inserting Diacritical Marks to Characters.
If you're completely new to FontCreator, start by browsing through the help file. Opening Fonts I always find it helps to go through the menus and dialogues to see what I can learn before even opening help. I don't have time to write again what was written in the thread that I linked to before . The...

Re: Inserting Diacritical Marks to Characters.
Open Times New Roman and take a look at combining dot below: codepoint $0323 (hex) or 803 (decimal).
- How many combining diacritical marks will you need?
- How are you going to type them on your keyboard?
- Which characters will they need to combine with?

Re: Inserting Diacritical Marks to Characters.
Please see This earlier thread on using Keyboard Layout Creator. Devanagari may be using a different method — combining diacritical marks instead of composite glyphs with accents like à è ì ò ù. Composite glyphs are one character, but they may require two keystrokes to type them — first the accent, ...

Re: How to make lowercase alphabet the same as uppercase?
There are several different ways to do this: Select all 26 uppercase glyphs in the glyph overview and copy them (Ctrl C). Select the 26 lowercase glyphs and paste the uppercase glyphs (Ctrl V). This is easiest, but makes your TTF file bigger because some data is duplicated. Copy as before to make th...

Re: Batch Rename fonts in Folder
In that case why don't you display the Title column in Windows file explorer? It doesn't show anything for TTF in Windows XP Home. Linotype Palatino.png Of course, you have to consider whether this small benefit is worth the time required to program it. I doubt if it is, since there is plenty of fr...

Re: Batch Rename fonts in Folder
I often open fonts in FontCreator from Windows Explorer or the File Open dialogue, or copy them to another folder etc., so it helps to see a non-cryptic filename in Explorer, or in other programs like TrueType Viewer that I sometimes use.

Re: Batch Rename fonts in Folder
I would like this built-in to MainType too, but there is plenty of freeware that will do the job very well.
Try Font Renamer.

Re: Cut/Copy/Paste shortcuts
I use the alternative shortcuts a lot in other applications, but I must admit I've never missed them in FontCreator — perhaps because I used it so much. Note that they do work in some places such as the Font Test window, or the Preview Toolbar, as these are standard Windows controls. All the more re...

Re: add greek letters from another font
Arial is a copyrighted font, and anyway automatically inserting glyph outlines from a SansSerif font into a font that might be an italic script or a Serif font would be pointless. If you want to copy paste from another font use the glyphs from one of my fonts, which have a GNU license agreement. Ver...

Re: (Newbie) Font looks different between Mac, Windows 7
I'm not able to test the font on a Mac, but if you attach it here I can take a look for any obvious errors. See the thread just below yours on Kerning — if you do the spacing right, you won't need to use kerning so much. If you have used kerning, make sure that it is enabled in Illustrator. Not all ...
