Alt key question

I would like to map a character with a glyph that I create by referencing ALT+ codes. It seems there is no real way to do this. I want to alter the existing ALT+0 thru 9. When I currently type Alt+0-7 I get a “?” So I look at the mapping and see the “?” but it’s accessed by pressing Alt+63. So What am I missing here?:smiling_face::heart::diamond_suit::club_suit::spade_suit:•○◘ These symbols are what I am looking for but they are not in the list anywhere in my font. If they were, I would just replace them with my own glyphs.

When you hold down the alter key and type 1-9 on the numeric keypad you get :slight_smile::heart::diamond_suit::club_suit::spade_suit:•◘○

In hexadecimal, these are glyphs 263A 263B 2665 2666 2663 2660 2022 25D8 25CB

In decimal, they are 9786 9787 9829 9830 9827 9824 8226 9688 9675

So, try mapping your glyphs to those values in your font (Use insert character and paste the codes if you have the trial version or the Pro Edition of FontCreator).

My own fonts contain all of those symbols, so I find that Alter 1-9 method works for my fonts.

Thanks, that works for the most part. It seems that the Alter-$263A does not work. I still get a smiling face even though the mappings are correct with the glyph. Also, I have an application that only recognizes the Alter-$25CB. Not sure why the others won’t work.

Please attach your font so that I can see what you have done. There’s an upload attachment tab below the message reply box.

Ok, here is the file. I have since decided to not use the alter-keys due to the issue I’ve mentioned as well as the non-existence of the alt-0. I have moved my glyphs to the !@#$%^&*() Keys. For my use it will be acceptable to lose those keys except for the @. I have moved that to another key.

Now I have noticed another situation with the font. The line spacing is very large so I have tried everything to reduce it. I have tried playing with the metrics and eliminating windescent and ascent. But i have no luck. It just squezzes or stretches the font.

Line spacing looks fine to me. Do type these characters both on a new line and you’ll see what I mean:
