I am unable to come up with the right total of fonts in MainType 4.5.
My views are:
429 Active
711 Library
50 Reccently Added
0 Top rated
458 Ungrouped
711 Unrated
My Groups are:
253 Uninstalled fonts (folder on hard drive)
Tools>Refresh Font Folders I have 735 known resources. If I add Active (429), Recently Added (50) and GROUPS Uninstalled Fonts (253) I come up with a total of 732 (which is close enough, I guess).
Question 1: I presume the “Active” fonts are the fonts under C:/Windows/Fonts? I know where the 253 Uninstalled Fonts are located on my PC.
Question 2: Where do the “Recently Added” fonts come from?
Question 3: Are “Recently Added” fonts always 50 or can that number be changed?
I’m sorry for all the questions - it’s just hard for me when things don’t add up.
Thanks for any help.
Irene

The exact number of fonts added to (known by) MainType always equals the number of font in the library. So in your case 711.
-
is the number of fonts currently available to your system and the software, like Microsoft Word, Adobe Indesign, etc.
-
the last fonts added to MainType’s library.
-
is indeed always 50
Thank you.
So, the last fonts added to the MainType Libary (50) don’t really calculate into the total fonts available. These are just an indication of which fonts (50) were added last to the Library?
Irene
I’m sorry but I’m still confused and not sure where the “additional fonts” are located on my hard drive
**429 Active (on C:/Windows/Fonts)**711 Library

I can locate 682 fonts on my PC, why do I have a total of 711, or where do I find the additional 29 fonts?
Sorry to be persnickety, I just like to know how things add up.
Irene
Our font manager is designed to be a complete font management system, that takes away the need to know where your fonts are located.
I wonder what you really want to know. We might have an answer or might be able to add a solution in a future release.
