I want to modify the NotoSerifMyanmar-Regular.ttf font (downloaded from Google fonts) to include the characters in the ASCII range $0020 - $0080.
I opened the NotoSerifMyanmar-Regular.ttf in FontCreator then from the menu Insert > Characters I entered the Code-points as ‘$0020-$0080’, in ‘Display Font’ I selected ‘Times New Roman’ (tried other fonts also) and then clicked OK. The selected characters appear in the NotoSerifMyanmar-Regular.ttf but they are grayed out and actual glyph data is not inserted in the destination font.
What am I doing wrong?
I’m using FontCreator 15 Pro (15.0.0.2999).
The display font is only meant to show a preview in the grid cells.
You will actually need to provide glyph (character) outlines yourself. You can copy and paste from an existing font, if the license allows you to do so, or design your own outlines.
This has to be done glyph by glyph or multiple glyphs can be copy/pasted?
You can copy and paste a selection of glyphs. Optionally you can use Paste Special to decide which parts you want to include in the paste operation.
