This appears to be a Windows 98 problem (maybe).
For months I have been successfully doing the following:
a) Delete my font in C:/WINDOWS/FONTS
b) Wait till seen to disappear in Windows Explorer
c) Install my font from FCP
d) Double click on it when it appears in c:/WINDOWS/FONTS
e) Observe visible changes to confirm it’s there
MY PROBLEM NOW is that the version I deleted reappears.
I tried uninstalling and then installing with The Font Thing
with the same result. I have rebooted several times.
The recent changes I have made in the font are to change the Unicode
mapping for the Hebrew glyphs from Latin to Hebrew unicode names.
But I also made an obvious change to one character to ensure
I have the new version. I also changed the version number.
Despite all this I can’t get rid of my old version.

I downloaded the Font properties extension, version 2.1 from http://www.microsoft.com/typography/TrueTypeProperty21.mspx
A left click on the installed font opens the advanced properties page
giving me the new version number for the font.
A right click on the installed font gives me the OLD version number
and old glyphs.
(It took me too long to compose this to help, sorry).
It sounds like the install is not working. If there is still a problem why don’t you copy/rename the ttf file and try installing that. It might become obvious what is occuring.
I don’t know for sure, but the registry might be involved (in Win98) and a “newfont” might trigger something.
I don’t know where you “left click on the installed font for the advanced properties page”. On mine (Win XP), there is no single left click, but a dbl left click gives me Char Map. If I point to the font in Windows Explorer and right click it brings up Font Properties menu.
I don’t know for sure (the theme here) but the mapping from Latin to (anything) might mean you confused Win98 and need to indicate a Latin character set regardless. I would try FCP - Format/Settings/Ranges and set some "Supported Unicode Ranges (Basic Latin or Latin-1 Supplement) or Supported Code pages (1252 Latin..), as well as your Hebrew options. I’m not sure if this overrides the font contents or not. It didn’t do anything for me, but maybe you’ll find something!
I’m one to keep trying various hammers until the nail goes in. Sometimes it works, sometimes I have to reload the font and start over!
If you want send me the font and I will try various things on it.
I’ll have a look at the Format/Settings/Ranges dialog.
Meanwhile I have been deleting my old font everywhere I find it.
Still MIKEHE~2.TTF is lurking in the C:/WINDOWS/FONTS folder but is hidden in Windows Explorer!
I tried DEL MIKEH~2.TTF is DOS and got Access Denied. Does anyone
know of a switch that can force this?
