I am new to Font Creator, but I have managed to open one of my Chinese fonts and create a new Chinese character successfully. In the same family font set, I have another font, which Font Creator tries to open with the TTF Collection Wizard, so it gives me an option to choose which font to open. Whether I choose one or both, no font opens. I do not know why. It is very frustrating.
In addition, if I do manage to open it, how do I deal with the saving process. Do I end up with a ‘mini’ font, i.e. I no longer have a ‘collection’ font?
Any pointers would be most appreciated. The help menu did not seem to give much direction here (unless I missed it and I did look).
The dialogues in the help file don’t show any option to open a font directly from a collection, just an option to extract a font to a folder on disk. Think of a TTC as a font archive. Extract first, then open a TTF in Font Creator. There is no option to save Truetype fonts to a collection.
It is a large file (28MB). It may be my Desktop. I tried it on my much newer Notebook PC and it saved fine. However, the software on my NB could not open the same collection font file (error message each time). In the end, I took the ‘split’ file from my PC and copied it to my NB (still 28MB). It opened and saved without a problem. Nothing is ever simple it seems!
