capital H indicating hinted glyph

In previous versions of FontCreator the originally hinted glyphs were marked with a capital H in het upper left corner, while edited glyphs lost their hints and accordingly their marking. In the most recent version edited glyphs still don’t show the H marker, though they are hinted (automatically) by the program. Is this the normal behaviour? Does the H mean that the original hinting is preserved when a font is exported?

Wasn’t this answered in your previous thread?

All hinting is replaced on exporting the font, and autohinting is added.

Yes, but I wonder why the marking of glyphs is inconsistent, as all glyphs receive (auto)hints. This is not reflected by the presence or absence of the H marker.

On exporting a font with auto hinting, the newly generated font file will contain hinting, however the actual font project is not affected.

Note: we’ve released a new version today which also allows you to export while preserving the original hinting. Of course hinting will be removed for any modified glyph(s).

This is a major improvement, in my view, unless the option to keep the original hinting implies that modified glyphs will NOT be autohinted.

Unfortunatley a hybrid solution is not available yet.

So I suppose the option ‘No hinting’ removes all existing hints?

That is correct.

I like the yet
