[CLOSED] Rotate not working plus error in manual

To rotate a selection of contours, the manual has conflicting information. In the body of the text it says use Key T, but in the List of Keyboard Shortcuts, it says use Key S.

Key T appears to be incorrect, as it invokes text input.

However, I cannot get this to work predictably with either key, although sometimes I have entered rotation mode accidentally, but I don’t know how.

I’m using an unofficial release of FontCreator Professional, Version 15.0.0.2985 (64-bit) on
Windows 11 Pro
Build 22621.ni_release20506-1250

Yes, key S is the correct one, we will fix it in the manual.

Just be sure you have selected at least one contour.

Also note, with a variable font, you can only edit outlines of a master.

Thank you.

I think I must be misunderstanding something. I’ll persevere.

There is currently one thing that can be very confusing, that is when you are editing a composite glyph, and accidentally get into Point mode. Then you can move composite glyph members, but you can not actually use the transform panel, unless you go back to Contour mode.

Before we introduced Hybrid outlines, this was never an issue. There must be some way to make it more intuitive.

That’s interesting. I’m getting better at this by the day.

One thing that would have helped me to get started is a glossary of terms. I’m still in the dark as to what some words actually mean in the context of FontCreator. This makes it very difficult to read the manual. Some features (which I probably don’t need) remain a mystery.

I do realise, of course, that constructing a glossary would involve a lot of tedious work.
